Penalty to Scunny not given
« on May 03, 2015, 06:50:36 pm by Lincoln Rover »
Was sat in the West stand perfect view of Marosi fouling their forward and then the follow up the thump against the bar. Horrendous keeping and refereeing to be honest. We go up the other end and score. Anyone else think that?

Horrendous defending originally. Terrible decision really.

Wellens should have put it safely out for a throw rather than risk the pass out of Jones' reach.

Looked like a penalty to me, but then they missed a virtual open goal so I'd say that was about even.

To be honest, I think you're being a bit harsh on the ref, I looked in his direction when the foul was committed and he looked like he was going to give it, but when it fell to their player, and he had an open net, I think he just played the advantage, I actually thought it a was very good decision. Have to agree on the defending though.

Agree that Wellens underhit his pass but Jones was outpaced and outmuscled by their player before Marosi got involved.
I was surprised that a pen wasnt given.
A good point lincoln about the refs advantage play.

Either way. why on earth didn't Wellens just put it out for a throw?

Marosi was awful. Unbelievably his goalkeeping was slightly worse than his kicking. If Scunthorpe could shoot, they would have had five or six themselves. I thought we should have had at least two more penalties than we got. Referee was very poor.

Terrible pass from Wellens and we were lucky to get away with it. They should have scored, which may have changed the course of the game.
I can't understand why Wellens keeps making these awful passes. One good pass for every 3 poor ones it seems to me.

He's nearly as bad as Gary Woods.

Cant agree about Wellens being as bad as you say Neil.
Obviously he makes some bad passes but no more than anyone else.
He is the on who play goes through most of the time and his pass to set Harry away when he won the first pen would have been shown 5 times if it had been on match of the day.

Why are we worrying about a pen for Scunthorpe not being given, other than some shocking defending by 2 of our most experienced players. How many pens have we not been given that we thought were blatant?

Marosi didn't make any glaring mistakes from what I saw. He's only young, so maybe a season a out on loan will do him good. And he's already better than Gary Woods by a stretch IMO!

Totally agree with that drfchound, one good pass to three bad ones?   :s   Very harsh on Wellens.

Wellens still looked the class act in midfield even though he was playing at half-pace throughout. There again you could probably say he's been playing at half-pace for most of the season.

If Marosi is retained after that, we are in trouble.

His current contract runs until summer 2016, he was given a 2 year deal

It's not about bring worried about a pen not given to the opposition it's about being honest and opening debate. I was ecstatic when it wasn't given just wanted to know other people's opinions.

Just see the incident on the highlights (player) not sure it was a pen anyway, looked like he fell over to me, made a meal of it.

The big shout for handball in the second half (clear as day from where I was standing) was a better pen shout for me. Looked to be just inside the box from the South Stand and clearly hit an outstretched arm.
