Penalty shoot outs
« on February 28, 2022, 05:15:17 am by Donnywolf »
1] Im not a fan - never have been.

2] Yesterdays 11- 10 was however - gripping
3] I think Chelsea made a strategic change when Subbing their Keeper believing he would perhaps save more Pens and give them a better chance of winning.
It didnt work out yesterday - and probably miffed Mendy forever - and how ironic - the bloke they brought on hoping he might make a win more likely was actually the one who cost them that win
4] That apart see Number 1

Chelsea’s sub keeper was probably chosen as he did his best to put off every one of Liverpool's pen takers by trying to be in their face.

Ironic that when Chelsea once wanted to sub him off for the penalties he refused to come off.
Poetic justice.

It was obviously something that had been pre discussed

I’m sure he’s come on for them before and won them a shoot out. Don’t get why people are so bothered, planned from the start and it just hasn’t paid off this time

Loved it when Kepa was trying to get in Fabinho's head and he just dinked it over him.

Van dykes was similar, keeper stood two thirds to his right of centre, VVD just smashed it into top corner of the third and just looked at him with disdain

Reminded me of England being clever in the Euros and bringing on players just to take pens. Their legs weren't in the game and they both missed.

Wonder if the ref was instructed that they needed to be taken at the Liverpool end
