It is often better to be the hunter than the hunted.

My thoughts throughout this run. It's been virtual sudden death and I'm not sure how I would feel if we peaked too early and got the 7th place with the final games to play with something to protect.

The result tonight shouldn't detract from the need to win the next match until we run out of matches.

I did try and work out if there was a scenario where us and Gillingham could play out a result like Germany v Austria in 1982 World cup and both qualify. Everyone would hate us, but we would not care.

I think it would need a draw tomorrow night, both Barrow and Crawley to lose all their remaining games and us and Gillingham to win the our remaining games before the final day. If Barrow and Crawley finish earlier than us with Gillingham winning. We could relax.

I know I should be relaxing and enjoying it, the best run of wins in my lifetime and the only thing that matters is beating Barrow, but I keep looking at the table.

It is the hope that kills you.

That's a fascinating hypothesis for the game at the Priestfield Stadium. If it were to occur I just cannot imagine Grant McCann countenancing a 1982 Germany V Austria scenario, not in a million years.

It is indeed fascinating. But let’s not forget, there would still be the playoffs to contend with. And if the two teams ended up in the final, then the gloves would be off for sure.

Similar has happened. Coventry City 2–2 Bristol City, the final match for both sides in the 1977 English First Division. With five minutes remaining, players received news of a Sunderland defeat which meant a draw would save both Coventry and Bristol from relegation. Both sides stopped attempting to score for the final five minutes.

Ireland and Holland players have admitted they stopped competing in the final 10 mins of their group match at Italia 90. They knew they were both through with a draw unless Egypt scored 2 vs England.

Pros and cons to all scenarios of the game so I am not really bothered about the outcome. I am more looking and hoping that Swindon beat Walsall and Mansfield lose to Accrington so that they will have to beat Gills on Saturday. This would mean a win for us against Barrow would allow us to go to Gills on the final day with something to play for regardless of what happens at Colchester next week and that in itself is a monumental achievement.

No Cole Stockton for Barrow… injured? Probably one of the best strikers in the division.

And I was there! I've mentioned it on here a few times over the years. It was excruciatingly funny - and wicked - at the same time.

As you'd expect it was Jimmy Hill behind it - using the then revolutionary electronic message board that Coventry had had installed.  They got fined afterwards, but it was Sunderland who got relegated.  The daft thing was it was a bloody fine game of footer upto that scoreflash on the board. 2-2 and an absolutely jam packed Highfield Road. That was why the kick off was delayed - hence allowing a chance for the mischief...

I'll never, ever forget that game!

Wouldn’t be so cock sure if I were you. He’s done for us previously over the years. I’d rather he didn’t play on sat to be honest

Not cock sure at all - just putting it in perspective, compared to the prolific ( mobile !! ) strikers who we've shut out recently he doesn't really compare does he?

Crawley have lots of possession every game. Don’t always do much with it though

Just short of 6 hours from Barrow to Crawley, so got to tip my hat at all the Barrow fans who made the long journey.

Crawley have been absolute cack. Barrow haven't been much better but got one quality cross in for the goal.

Wish list for second half.

1. Barrow to get a few more goals to chalk off Crawleys gd advantage.
2. Swindon to bang in a few goals please.
3. Colchester to continue winning. This puts huge emphasis on Sutton.who host Crawley this sat.

Are we any wiser if the scores stay the same? Are we richer or poorer?

The only observation that springs to mind if Barrow win tonight, is they will only need a draw on Saturday to secure a play off spot, which means they could try to park the bus.

Walsall winning is the only fly in the ointment currently. Imho

Yes, their two remaining games could be against teams already 'on the beach.'

Both Crawley and Barrow will face at least one in their remaining games.

Whatever happens, our approach will be the same.

Crawley penalty was harsh on barrow as it hit his hand from a save from the goalie

Very soft I thought. Big half for Crawley.
