Today’s team
COYR
-
Mods - feel free to delete the thread I started.
Good to see Sims and Anderson back in, and James continuing at full back, but I’d far rather have had Robertson than Gomes in midfield. Shame that Fej still isn’t fit - hopefully it’s nothing serious.
-
ok, I'll say it again......
could be a long old afternoon with that midfield :(
-
I like the side but Darren why have selected Gomes again his passing is not good enough, he’s not disciplined enough and you had to take him off at halftime last week. I said the same things then. He is more direct than both Bostock and Robertson but his passing lets him down. I hope he proves me wrong. If Robertson had been selected it would allow Smith to get forward and with his passing would assist our attacks.
-
Because Smiths in, Gomes will be playing in his best position, attacking midfielder, expecting a much better performance today and hopefully back on the scoresheet
-

Are you also having a pop at DM Steve.
Surely he knows more about picking the side for this game than any of us supporters.

No he selects the side I have just stated my views on players. It about the team not his interview techniques.
-
Quote happy with the line up. Everyone has to take responsibility for passing the ball better and finding space to give options.
Once again, there's opportunities here for James to be the spare man by creating an overload on their back line. We just need a bit more composure when I'm and around the area.
If big Tom galvanise our defence and keeper, it's going to be a good game for us.
Good to see Copps back on the bench.
-
Tom back Copps back, Gomes in position, Sims starting what's not to like?
-
Interesting. Hull aren't playing the press.
-
Bright start, let's see if we can convert today.
-
Really promising. We look a different team already.
-
Wrestle player to the floor not a foul ok then ref
-
We started the last four or five games well but sadly didn’t keep up the momentum.
-
Yes I agree hound but that was then eh?
-
0:1
-
Forw sure barmby, let’s hope we can keep this up.
Ref giving some dodgy decisions for Hull.
We don’t know heather Hull will deploy the press yet as we have only had one goal kick.
-
Here we go again ref blows up for every touch against rovers
Goal Hull
-
their game plan is pretty clear, get in the box as fast as possible, cause they are flaky
-
So much for the optimism!
-
Ref with the assist.
-
1-0 to the linesman
-
That was from a free kick that never was
-
No surprise wilks
-
A real dive for the free kick - bought by the officials
-
Balcombe flapped at that...
-
Even I didn’t think that was a free kick
-
Great ball in but Balcombe has to do better there.
-
If, as widely reported, Paul Gerrard is responsible for setting us up from set plays, then maybe he needs to hand over those duties to someone else.
-
File under "soft goals conceded from a set piece"
-
Start well for 15 minutes the fizzle out
-
-
Shocking from Balcombe
-
0:2
-
Game over
-
2-0
-
23 minutes and game over
-
*sigh*
-
Jesus f**king Christ
-
Balcome is shit
-
Becoming a very familiar feeling this.
-
Can't defend headers. Basic stuff.
-
What is going on???
-
-
Game over already?
-
All to do now. Holy shit.
-
FFS! We’re not learning from previous games, last 6 goals conceded headers
-
We are a joke at the moment
-
That one was very similar to one against Sunderland where Wyke beat John. Think it was the 2nd goal.
-
Balcome is shit
That second goal wasn’t Balcombes fault.
CBs should be dealing with those crosses.
-
What the f**k are they doing in training?
-
f**king rubbish! Wouldn’t pay them in washes this week.
-
Game over already?
Sorry to say but yes we have offered nothing
-
Shocking defending. Halliday struggling to keep control of that right side and nobody picking Wilks up at all.
-
Anderson back seemingly makes no difference. We can’t stop crosses coming into the box and when they do we just watch the opposition attack them. It’s pathetic for a team who are supposed to be challenging for promotion.
Can barely remember Wilks even winning a header when he was with us.
-
Come on Donny, plenty of time :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid: :rtid:
-
We’re still in this.
-
Balcome is shit
That second goal wasn’t Balcombe fault.
CBS should be dealing with those crosses.
Keeper should be going to the ball and taking everything ball and man since taking anderson out he dare not move of his line
-
Shocking defending. Halliday struggling to keep control of that right side and nobody picking Wilks up at all.
Halliday stopped the cross.
Got no back up from Taylor when the ball was played backwards.
-
is this going to be 0-4 again ? 2 more headers from Wilks ?
-
Can’t stop crosses coming into the box you say? I thought Cameron John wasn’t playing?
-
Good on you PDX, but I fear the worst.
-
Were putting balls in the box and Bogle is no where to be seen FFS
-
Get your money on 4-3
-
Mansfield moment?
Come on, I’m trying.
-
Hull's keeper is utter bobbins and we are just not testing him.
-
We should be firing balls at their keeper, he’s very vulnerable at handling.
-
Rovers not even interested in putting a tackle in we are to nice. Need to close hull down quicker and leave a boot in
-
Attacking wise we havent been too bad. Defensively we are a nightmare.
-
Wow we needed that!!!!!
-
Thank f**k
-
Great goal Reece
-
1-2
Get in!
-
Like I just suggested ... and a goal!
-
Get in
-
And Lincoln losing at Wigan too.
-
Brilliant by T-R and a fantastic strike by Reece.
-
Keep this tight now.
-
Get in REECE JAMES!!!!!
-
Amazing what happens when we shoot every time 20yrds out f**king shoot
-
game on now :scarf:
-
We would be better if Gomes and Taylor were actually participating in proceedings
-
We can score past these but then again we've got more chance of losing this than they have of beating us.
-
Wow. Tom Anderson. I bloody love you!
-
Gomes has been terrible so far.
-
We would be better if Gomes and Taylor were actually participating in proceedings
Jon Taylor hasn't offered a great deal for the past fortnight, has he.
-
Halliday ... a nightmare
-
Gomes has been terrible so far.
He has been since he's come back from injury.
-
Halliday is having a mare
-
3rd it's been coming
-
That soon got snuffed out.
-
Deary, deary me ...
-
Another set piece. Jesus wept.
-
And another f**king header!
-
Again.
-
Get f**ked.
-
How good is big Tom?
-
FFS we can’t defend high balls into our box.
-
Sort it out Darren ffs
-
We need to double up on Potter. Everything is coming through him.
-
I would have changed Madger already but maybe he will wait till HT
-
Defence, what defence?
-
The midfield are nopt doing enough to protect the back 4, we need somebody to break up play, unfortunately he is playing for PNE today.
-
We aren’t getting out of this league with play like this, slow slide down the table
-
How many we losing by this weekend then? We will definitely concede more. I’m going 1-5
-
That was amateur.... Balcombe in no mans land...... Is the wind gusting in there?
-
Robertson for Gomes would be my change.
-
Halliday is having a mare
i know there are quite a number on here that rate him and clearly the manager does but I just can’t see it. He’s bobbins. Always has been.
-
Sack him! f**k this shit. A former center back who can’t set his team up to defend crosses in the box. It’s an absolute shambles
-
Robertson for Gomes would be my change.
And about half an hour too late
-
This is what happens when you make 3, 4 or 5 changes per game.
-
Frustrating again. A lot of decent bits of play but the defending has been as bad as I can remember.
-
We have become every opposing Managers cream-dream,
Press em hard or get loads of set pieces, cos this shower can’t defend buggerall
Taylor and Gomes are passengers ,
I predicted 0-3 ....guess I may have underestimated our avoidable incompetence
-
Great chance spurned by Taylor.
-
I think Gomes has been one of the better players? he is picking all the passes. I would swap Taylor for lokilo though
-
Agree with Taylor and gomes needing to come off. The frustration here is hull look shakey at the back themselves!
-
Some crazy comments on here.
-
Halliday is having a mare
i know there are quite a number on here that rate him and clearly the manager does but I just can’t see it. He’s bobbins. Always has been.
Tom Anderson rated him in his commentary the other night.
-
Could be worse. Imagine if there were crowds in.
-
We don’t deserve to be 1-3 down on the balance of play, it’s just 3 stupid goals conceded.
We need the keeper to command his area on these crosses.
-
Bostock for Gomes?
-
Hull are clearly the weakest side we have played in this run. We have gifted them their lead with absolutely atrocious defending yet again.
-
Teams are targeting our right hand side, far to easy. Can't believe he started Gomez in front of Robertson, just don't get it.
-
Another uncontested header.
-
Halliday is having a mare

good for him. I’m sure they know better than me. But he’s getting torn to shreds! Again. And don’t get me started on his passing. Opinions eh?
-
Robertson for Gomes would be my change.
Also copps for Taylor who has been anonymous
-
We seem to be missing Ben’s defensive game more than his attacking- we have no protection in central midfield and that must be one of the reasons the defence seems to be imploding
-
That could easily have been four one.
-
That last free kick sums up our defending, not good enough by a long way
-
I think Gomes has been one of the better players? he is picking all the passes. I would swap Taylor for lokilo though
He's made a couple of more complicated passes but he has given away too many easy balls.
-
Bostock for Gomes?
No
-
Hull seem to stroll through midfield with no real challenge, defence is a full team responsibility, the players need to start standing up to be counted.
-
Time to get Haliday off , Butler on , push James forward and go 3 at the back
-
I don't rate Halliday at all but he is getting no help at all from Taylor.
-
Halliday has had zero support from Taylor these past two Saturdays. You can't expect the lad to be a key attacker then defend without backup.
-
Midfield is just non existent, we desperatly need someone to get stuck in in there
-
Just for the record, I rate Haliday, but not today...he looks like he is dazed with it all, but the same could be said for all the defence - the tactic was clear from very early, they can see we are very poor from crosses. This could be a big score against us. Strangely Hull are not that good, I've not seen a decent side since Lincoln - the fact these teams have beat us, just shows how exceptionally poor we are currently.
Gomes has been the best passer in that half, he was making through the lines passes.
-
Actually thought some of our play has been better today, but the defending has been woeful. Taylor and Gomes have been anonymous in the first half
COYR

andSack him! f**k this shit. A former center back who can’t set his team up to defend crosses in the box. It’s an absolute shambles
I wondered when we would get the sack him post
-
Look at the goals scored Halliday and Wright should have got the ball away for the first. The right side of defence is not good. Second goal James on Wilks, he scores if that had been John he would have crucified on here.
Third goal another header. Then right at the end ball in from the right over James and Potter nearly scores.
Good goal from James centre midfield.
The right side of the defence needs looking at I hope they will.
-
This has a feeling of lack of confidence follwing a few losses, plus a little of fearing the might of Hull.
Needs that oomph in defence to give that confidence which is down to DM kicking arse.
For this matchfrom here it's about the battle of tactics between the managers.
-
DM is a good manager, it takes someone with a special sort of FM brain to come out with that sort of rubbish.
-
Bostock for Gomes?
Yes please. He's the best defensive midfielder we currently have. Smith is great at picking a pass but he isn't that guy to do the dirty work and make the interceptions. Get Gomes off.
-
Some of Gomes passing has been poor, thought he had gone off at one point.
-

Oi. Don't tar FM with those inbreds.
-

Might see Seaman in the next game at this rate
-
JT had one of the clearest chances of the half and somehow he seemed to fall over and loop it up into the keepers arms all at the same time- he really can look comical at times
-
I forget which defensive horror show it was that Anderson had to sort out but he was going f**king mental at one point. Him aside, this is about as timid a defensive group as I can remember us playing. Anderson must look at the rest of the back line and think what am I doing here. Ball comes in, attack it!
-
Halliday has had zero help from Taylor, who's been atrocious first half.
Taylor has been a massive problem, he has contributed nothing going forward or defensively.
Bottles challanges, and simply makes no effort in stopping crosses.
Should be nowhere near the starting 11.
-
The success leading up to the Fleetwood match had been built on strong defending marshalled by Butler and Anderson. Since that partnership was broken up the defending has been shambolic.
-
Can’t believe he hasn’t subbed Taylor.
-
Biggest half time talk of the season thus far....
-
Two elements to this. Cutting the cross out is one aspect, but the ball still needs dealing with if it comes in. We're equally suspect on set pieces as from open play.
-
The success leading up to the Fleetwood match had been built on strong defending marshalled by Butler and Anderson. Since that partnership was broken up the defending has been shambolic.
Butler was very poor last match and probably at fault for the goal.
He's clearly only ever going to be cover.
-
Can’t believe he hasn’t subbed Taylor.
He's been that anonymous that Moore has forgot to sub him!
-
Must score next if hull do it's game over if we score we may get a draw
-

Butler was very poor last match and probably at fault for the goal.
He's clearly only ever going to be cover.
Apart from our best defensive run of the season.

Looks like that has soon been forgotten.
-
Accrington and Peterbro both in front now.
-
We kick ball out for them in first half and snake Mcann tells their player to go down the teat
-

It's been covered to death how lucky we were in that run.
Play them again with the same team, and it won't be anywhere near as good
-

f**king hell.
-
Taxi for Balcombe
-
Balcombe. WTF
-
Should have been 4 balcome trying to be cute and failed
That's a handball
-
Well, if the first wasn’t hand ball the second most def was
-
Clear handball, has to be a pen.......and another one there.
-
Luck is not evening out yet
-
Two stonewall pens there!
-
Second hand ball claim clearly a penalty. The bas**rd swatted it forwards!
-
Is this ref from Hull??
-
This ref and lineman need investigation
-
We don’t deserve to be 1-3 down on the balance of play, it’s just 3 stupid goals conceded.
We need the keeper to command his area on these crosses.
Yes, we do deserve to be 3-1 down, we could have conceded 2/3 more!! We deserve to be behind because our defending is shocking. You can’t say we deserve anything else when we are allowing the opposition to dominate our box on every cross and set piece.
The fact is if we can’t do the basics, the teams at the top will exploit us. Worry where we might be come mid March at this rate - we’ve still got very tough games over the next 3 weeks.
-
How did the ref not see that 2nd one? Most blatent handball ever.
-
Bostock for Gomes?
No
He is doing well
I take it back
-
Bostock for Gomes?
No
He is doing well
I take it back
He's not played badly since signing for us. Today's probably his best as he's getting match fit and used to his team mates.
-
We are playing much better now.....
-
hull area slow timing us now
-
Halliday has had zero help from Taylor, who's been atrocious first half.
Taylor has been a massive problem, he has contributed nothing going forward or defensively.
Bottles challanges, and simply makes no effort in stopping crosses.
Should be nowhere near the starting 11.
Agree with this. Contributed very little and when he has been in good positions he's invariably cocked it up. Get him off and Copps on, I'd say.
-
Peno for us
-
Ref realised he's missed that 2nd one. That looked a bit soft.
-
Pen.
-
Third time lucky.
-
A life line, make the most of it Rovers!
-
Yes
-
COYR.
-
never a pen... and very nervous watching that no run up
-
Good pen- pleased for Bogle who I think has done well
-
Good pen.
-
Snake booked.
-
You reds.... :scarf:
-
I thought that one was a clear pen...arm in the back of the head. Must just be me. Lol
-
Yes! I’m not shouted at the tv this much all season
-
Bostock has been a massive difference this half
-
I thought that one was a clear pen...arm in the back of the head. Must just be me. Lol
So did I. (Think it was a clear pen)
-
33% penalty award rate for the ref. Presumably he's on a quota.
-
Great ball in there, we should be level.
-
Danny Amos's chess references are making me laugh.
-
Sims off? What?!
-
Sims off? What?!
Jeeez ... does DM not know Taylor is on the pitch !
-
Sims off? What?!
Protecting our assets...
-
Taylor has been poor for the last few games. Get Copps on
-
Rovers have been great today apart from those stupid goals.
The recovery starts here.
-
I’d put copps on for Richards...
-
For the love of all that is holy, how on earth is John Taylor still on the pitch!
Sweet baby jesus and all the angels, Moore what are you thinking
-
Get your money on 4-3
-
Sims off? What?!
Protecting our assets...
He was heavily influencing the game. Just handing momentum back.
-
wtf is wright doing, he seems to day dream mid match
-
Rovers have been great today apart from those stupid goals.
The recovery starts here.
Get out........get out now, no room for any positivity in here
-
Is this ref blind to handball?
-
Can I give the ref a big fat zero mark now?
-
He sees well enough when a Hull player falls over.
-
I tell you what. We’ve been the better team overall.
-
I tell you what. We’ve been the better team overall.
Don't you start now....
-
Copps on.
-
Danny on Copps ‘if he scores I’m on the pitch’
-
Copps on. I'm filling up, here.
-
There should be at least 7 minutes added time.
-
If we hadn't given hull 3 easy goal we would have won easily
-
Amos: If he scores, I’m on the pitch
If he scores, I'm jumping in the car and I'm on the pitch too
-
Honeyman has been injured most of the game.
-
Amos: If he scores, I’m on the pitch
If he scores, I'm jumping in the car and I'm on the pitch too
Ditto
-
Amos: If he scores, I’m on the pitch
If he scores, I'm jumping in the car and I'm on the pitch too
Ditto
I'll see you there.
-
Amos: If he scores, I’m on the pitch

I'll see you there.
I hope so....
-
Careful which car park you go into lads.
-
10 minutes injury time?
-
Careful which car park you go into lads.
:woot:
-
7 mins
-
Has to be ten minutes.
-
7 mins
Will be 10 by the time we get going.
-
Out of the last 4 games these are the worst team we've played. If we don't get something out of this we've really shot ourselves in the foot
-
Has to be ten minutes.
At least
-
Should really be playing 12-15 minutes here.
-
4 mins gone only just on spine board
-
I hope the ref misses his train home.
-
No more subs for hull as well , hope we make the extra man count
-
I hope Honeyman is ok.
-
Looks really bad for him.
-
Got to be 15 mins as he went down before the 90
Best wishes honeyman
Up to 6 mins still on pitch
-
This ref will blow on 97 minutes he's been that good haha
-
Looks like Richards fell on him
-
Rovers need to restart this game well again now.
-
Looks like Richards fell on him
Lokilo.
-
Looking at the replay it looked just like he bounced off Lokilo, quite innocuous.
-
7.4r when restarted
-
7.44
-
Another penalty not given....
-
Could easily have been a pen there with Robertson’s run.
-
How bent is this ref? He's given fouls for far less than that on Robertson.
-
f**k yeassss
-
I'm on the pitch.
-
Get in , let's get a winner
-
Priceless- what a fitting moment for a legend
-
Goooooaaaaalllllll
-
This 2nd half kick starts our season again.
-
Get the winner
-
Golden boots, golden boy.
-
SSN interrupted their final score announcements to show us the goal
-
I'm in tears here - f**king get in......
-
I'm off to stand outside the pub and look in the windows!!!!!!!!
-
My six month old is screaming. She was asleep and I’ve just gone off my head. Amazing
-
FT 3-3
-
Wow. What a 2nd half.
I'm buzzing here. Let's hope that's the springboard for the next few games.
-
That’s why we watch this game and this team. A legendary moment.
-
What a game!
-
I lost my shit. My 6 year old jumped and started screaming like she was being f**king kidnapped, which terrified my 2 year old who started crying as a result. Scenes.
-
have to admit, DM got the subs right, they influenced the game- we should have won though :rtid:
-
Hopefully that will lift the whole team’s confidence and kick start our season again
-
Unbelievable!
That was massive, fighting back from two goals down and actually deserved to win it.
Copps? I have no words!
-
That second half deserved that, and probably the win 2 stonewall penalty’s not given, we dominated them, Bostock made a massive difference, but arise Sir James Coppinger, magnificent free kick, had me bouncing around the living room like a lunatic
-
Amazing to think that if that was a game if fans allowed there would have only been 50 people left
-
Copps got us out of jail today and not for the first time. A much better second half display. This has to be taken as an improvement on what we’ve seen recently but we must start defending a whole heap better.
Onwards and upwards, see you all Tuesday
COYR
-
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. What a hero.
-
Copps - what legends are made of :scarf:
-
Agree Filo, Bostock made a huge difference in that second half. Now we are seeing the player he can be.
How sweet to deprive The Snake of a win, and what a way to do it.
Hull were s******g themselves for the last half hour of that game.
That’s stopped the rot and must give the players a confidence boost. Massive credit to them for clawing their way back from 1-3 down especially after the previous three games.
This is why we follow the Rovers!
-
Copps - what legends are made of :scarf:
:that:
-
Better team. 5 good penalty shouts. And what can you say about Copps. Another legendary moment to add to his showreel. Unbelievable Jeff.
Shame we were shocking to gift them the lead, but second half... wow.
-
Just imagine how that would have been if we had been in the stadium lads.
-
NEXT!
-
Still not sure that our defence can clamber out of the hole they’ve found themselves in.....
Sure we found an attacking balance that reaped a small reward, however that only papered over the chasm that is our defence.....and how do you go about not conceding from corners and set pieces when you are looking this fragile.....
Plenty to think about, but dropping Bostock into the Whiteman role is a definite plus
