Maybe I should have added a winky as I was only having a laugh rather than trying to be clever.

Did the Ledger Mobility man intentionally opt for Ledger over Leger or is it a typo?

Actually I have no idea! LOL - I'll ask him!

Let's not forget though that Ledger Mobility were the very clear main club and shirt sponsors of DRFC in 2002/03 when we got back into the league! Bit of kudos there for sure!

Please no, i suggested it as a joke, because that's how our shirt sponsorship was decided!, They have been involved with us a lot of years,so of course i appreciate that, but surely any stadium sponsorship deal would need to be big amounts of money, or just do the right thing and name it 'The Robin Hood stadium'.........

Ah yes, the best jokes are always the ones you have to explain.

Not many people get my humour, nothing new there.

If Robin Hood airport stump up the money, I don't see why not.

But that isn't what was suggested. The suggestion was just not sell the rights at all and for no apparent reason name it that.

Imagine the possible clichés if it was Robin Hood Stadium

Rovers in terminal decline .... Run (a) way win for Rovers ... our Season has taken off .... Rovers last stand .... Rovers aPEEL for snow shovellers .... Rovers approaching Play offs .....

oh and Taxi for Ferguson (and me) in the future sometime no doubt

Was thinking more of Merry Men style puns. As in "Rovers Friar Tuck it up."

I meant for the original post that you replied to Nudga not yours.
I didn't think for a minute that you'd be upset. 🙂

I'm not attached to the keepmoat name, it means nothing to me, it's just a firms name, so whoever bids highest will do me.

Will we always refer to it as Keepmoat I wonder - or will it take a couple of generations for it to fade from the vocabulary ?

Belle Vue was always that to me and always will be and I think Keepmoat even after any renaming will probably still be what people use - or say maybe are you off t'Rovers next Saturday.

Lets say we changed to "Whitbys Fish and Chip Restaurant Stadium" for the sake of argument - or the shorter "Peglers Stadium" the Club would do their best to promote that name of course but would we as fans still refer to it as the Keepmoat anyway ?

I wonder if Huddersfield Town fans still call it the McAlpine? Shortened to the Mac.

I never minded the name Keepmoat, keep and moat are both castle related and we were hoping for a fortress...

Sadly it would just remind me of a not particularly successful former chairman of DRFC.

Most of us will call it that out of habit, even if it changed name. I can't remember anybody calling belle vue, the earth stadium, most of us just p..sed ourselves because it didn't fit the club, anything that improves the club finances, but one i wouldn't agree to is changing the club name.

If it wasn't to have a sponsor name I'd have called it the Lakeside Stadium. Ultimately it doesn't really matter as it isn't as if we'll be losing a historic name when a new sponsor comes in, like when Mike Ashley tried to rename St. James' Park.
