After what feels like a long fortnight off, Rovers are back in action today against Sunderland at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Today’s team
COYR
-
Still slightly confused by the goalkeeper situation. If Lumley is injured/sent off, and Jones comes on that will be his 5th appearance. Does that mean that we will then no longer be able to use the emergency loan system for a keeper?
-
With the players available that’s the side I would have gone with. With Coppinger and Richards to come on when required. It would be good if Gomes and JJ could be available for Tuesday. Don’t think Taylor will maybe next Saturday for him.
-
5-2-3?

Yes I think that would be correct.. unless something then happens to Jones..

But apart from taking an untried 17yearold out of the U18 team, in Bottomly, what else can we do. The club need to be signing a out contract goal keeper if you want to take the risk out of each game.
-
I look at that team and it’s beyond me why Coppinger is on the bench and not in the team!
-
5-2-3?
More likely to be a back four I think.
James to be a midfield player, John at LB.
-
Let’s see if Okenabirhie can score and put pressure on DM from starting JJ when fit
-
Is it a delayed kick off today?
-
Is it a delayed kick off today?
Nope, just nothing happened at the moment
-
Nope just nothing happening Sunderland lots of fouls and going 5 at back so no room for our 1 up front
-
Lumley's distribution looks good.
-
Why when we get a free kick near the half way line do we always kick it back?
-
Why when we get a free kick near the half way line do we always kick it back?
That the Whiteman one didn't even mange to pass it to Joe Wright either
-
Who is the co-commentator on ifollow?
Late joining so missed it.
-
Too many misplaced passes from rovers
-
Too many misplaced passes from rovers
Nothing new, then? Come on Rovers!
-
It’s a bit uninspiring.
-
Who is the co-commentator on ifollow?
Late joining so missed it.
You mean Shaun Lockwood?
-
Has Lokilo got broken legs ?
Guy cant beat his man or get past him....I thought he was supposed to be nippy!
-
One up front is not working ferji is working hard but but is up against 2 good defenders and needs help
-
That looked like a penalty for me. Sunderland starting to dominate.
-
I think we would have been gutted if we hadn't got a penalty for that.
-
Has Lokilo got broken legs ?
Guy cant beat his man or get past him....I thought he was supposed to be nippy!
Very poor Lokilo, there was so much excitement as well when we signed him, can see why it is only a 1 year deal
-
Except for Lumley’s distribution, not a single positive comment yet! Surely we’ve got something that gives us a bit of hope?
-
Penalty all day long thankfully the only person that can give it didn't think it was. We need to get into them
-
Not a single positive comment yet! Surely we’ve got something that gives us a bit of hope?
No injuries or yellow cards
-
Smith is a passenger
-
Sunderland haven't scored yet so at the moment it's a good point - that's positive.
SM also said that lumley's distribution looks good - positive! Lol
-
Sunderland haven't scored yet so at the moment it's a good point - that's positive.
Fair enough!
-
Typical that the positive comments about his passing are followed up by a horrendous pass to a Sunderland player 30 yards out and we were lucky not to be punished!
-
Not sure what shape we are playing, but we seem short of possession...
-
Why are we constantly messing about with it in our own box.
I know what the theory is, but it’s not working, we’re causing all our own problems
It’s embarrassing to watch
-
Sunderland haven't scored yet so at the moment it's a good point - that's positive.
SM also said that lumley's distribution looks good - positive!
Then he passes straight to a Sunderland player
And lokilo now booked
-
Need more than 5 subs!
-
We haven't had a shot on goal yet after 40 minutes.
Very, very poor. Just not sure what the plan is here today.
-
Lokilo will come off at half time
-
Not a single shot, on or off target compared to their 6, this does not look good.
-
Not sure what shape we are playing, but we seem short of possession...
38:62% possession to Sunderland...according to the BBC website.
-
We haven't had a shot on goal yet after 40 minutes.
Very, very poor. Just not sure what the plan is here today.
Plan seems to be try to win with one shot all game
-
0:1
-
Ffs
-
0-1 thats been coming.
-

That’ll do for me!
-
Shit!
-
Nothing less than they deserve, we’ve been absolute toss
-
I would take James off, he is running about like a headless chicken and achieving nothing, its just not his position - play a midfielder!!!
-
What a goal Sunderland deserve it we have been crap
-
Bugger
-
Fully deserved
-
Lumley our best player by a mile. Too sloppy in possession to have any pressure on them.
-
Is D.M.back on the bench?...only asking.
-
What a strike. We've been atrocious though, and I don't often say that

Why play James in midfield, play smith at side of Ben and play Richards at cam
-
We need a drastic change in tactics if Rovers are to get anything from this game.
-
HT
-
Half time I’d take lokilo and smith off for Richards and copps
-
Defense - clumsy
Midfield - what midfield?
Attack- yeah right!
Wingers - lol
This team is set up to fail big style... we can’t kid ourselves that anyone on that park is a top 6 player.....
However if they were told to go out and play shite.....they are doing exactly that...
-
Sunderland well organised. Lokilo not up to it. James looks lost. Copps and Richards on I reckon. For all their possession though, it took a brilliant strike....
-
Shite so far.
-
Rubbish, we deserve to be behind, by more, they should have had a pen, Sunderland keeper has had nothing to do!
-
Men against boys.
-
Gonna take a wild punt and say our plan B is to try not to lose 3-0 ,
-
Smith was one of the better players, Lokilo has put a couple of good crosses in, the rest have done nothing - apart from the new keeper, who looks quite good from a single half showing.
We can only get better - I think/hope
-
Absolutely crap. Moore should have changed something already after 30/35mins because was obvious how we have set up not working and only a matter of time before they scored. We havent got anywhere near them in that first 45.
-
One up front is not working ferji is working hard but but is up against 2 good defenders and needs help
It seems to be the same most weeks.
No support for Fej.
-
Lokilo doesn’t have the maturity to know that if your not getting beyond ya man , move in Field and support the striker...
Lock down should not be like this....
-
To be honest I just think Sunderland are a lot better team than us unfortunately. I don’t think you can slag Rovers, it’s just their players are bigger, faster and better. Whiteman is our best player this season by far but Leadbitter is just a class above.
-
I'm watching on ifollow, and it's been horrendous, jerky all half, froze before their goal was scored so missed that, worra joke service. We have been abysmal from what I have seen of that half.
-
Worst performance of the season so far for me. I agree with others, defo get Copps and Richards on. I’d take James and Lokilo off
-
Shows how weak our squad is at the moment.ball keeps coming back to us.
-
Rovers are behind at half time and deservedly so in a game they have struggled to make any real impression on.
They’ve been penned in by an organised Sunderland side who have dominated territory and possession in this game so far.
But they’ve not done themselves any favours also with slack passing and a steadfast determination to pass out from the back which has only invited the visitors forward.
Something needs to change in this game because Rovers are having a big issue with trying to alter things themselves.
The full backs are being pushed far deeper than they normally would, Ben Whiteman is being closely marshalled by Charlie Wyke and the connection between the attacking players and the team is non-existent.

We've not been able to hold onto the ball or craft a chance. It isn't through Sunderland being great, it's our own ineptitude plain and simple.
-
No subs yet then.
-
Nope same shit different half we need the next goal
-
Get lokilo off let's play with 11
-
Lokilo and Okenabirhie have both been really wasteful when the ball comes to them.
-
come on lads, for heaven's sake !
-
Matty Blair scores for Cheltenham.
-
Loads better this half come
-
Lokilo hasn't shown anything this season for us to extend his contract so far.
-
Fej has had a couple ofecent half chances.
Richards now on for Lokilo.
-
And Marquis scores...
-
Better this half but lack of a cutting edge
-
There is a serious lack of movement up front by us.
-
Sunderland are not flamboyant but to me are by far the best team I’ve seen this season, hate to say it because I hate Parkinson.
I like how polarised football fans views are, your team’s either brilliant or terrible, sometimes you just play a better team. More even this half though.
-
Lokilo hasn't shown anything this season for us to extend his contract so far.
I got pelters for saying this earlier in the season. He doesn't really offer anything apart from pace and he doesn't seem to know what to do with that pace.
-
Richards for Lokilo
-
Joe Wright booked
-
We just don’t seem to have any urgency.
Far too much fannying about at the back and playing back to the keeper, who then takes too long moving it again.
We need to get Copps on now while he has time to influence the game.
-
No movement whatsoever
And our only striker can’t keep hold of it at all,
-
I gotta turn this shite off.....it’s pathetic...
I could have sworn we have had a rest weekend, yet look apathetic beyond belief....
John is not a left back and DM has sacrificed balance for preferential treatment....that is very obvious!
The so called “ best centre backs “ in the division are woefully inadequate at playing the ball on the floor....
-

Spot on.
-
There’s not much movement ahead of him and I don’t want to be too critical given he’s just arrived and had a decent game but Lumley must have had the ball at his feet for a combined total of a couple of minutes. Far too casual, does he not realise we are losing?
-

Why are we obsessed with passing everything back to the keeper? I suppose we should be grateful it is to one of our players.

Have you seen the lack of movement ahead of him? Our midfield has offered nothing. What do you want him to do, just boot it and hope for the best?
-
It's like they don't know they are losing

He's probably wondering why we keep passing it to him. Never seen the goalie have so much of the ball in a game for us.
-

I suppose it gets our passing stats up.
-
To be honest we just cannot cope with how Sunderland have pressed us, and we have looked scared
-

I started my post by saying “I know there’s not much movement ahead of him”. So yes, I have obviously seen it. He should be barking at them to pull their finger out rather than just rolling the ball a yard ahead and a yard behind.
-
Some drama queens on here, we’re playing a better team, Rovers’ are trying but Sunderland are trying and have better players. Very fickle!
-
To be honest we just cannot cope with how Sunderland have pressed us, and we have looked scared
They did exactly the same in the game last season. Unfortunately we haven’t learnt from our mistakes
-
Not sure what shape we are playing, but we seem short of possession...
38:62% possession to Sunderland...according to the BBC website.
Now 47% : 53%.
-
Okaniberhie is dreadful absolutely dreadful
-
Some drama queens on here, we’re playing a better team, Rovers’ are trying but Sunderland are trying and have better players. Very fickle!
It doesn't matter who you are playing if you can't manage to pass the ball to your own team members. Stop making excuses for them. Only one word for us today. Embarrassing.
-
Some drama queens on here, we’re playing a better team, Rovers’ are trying but Sunderland are trying and have better players. Very fickle!
Please tell me what Rovers have done well. It's alright saying we've lost to a better team (if we do lose) and Sunderland have been decent and organised but Rovers have had no forward momentum all game, the midfield hasn't shown enough movement or urgency. Okenabirhie has been next to useless. We haven't remotely tested their keeper.
I'm sure it's just an off day, I'm not panicking but I am very disappointed because we are playing far, far below out usual level.
-
Just what has happened since those lovely wins against Ipswich and Pompey?
-
Portsmouth are four nil up, but only 29% possession at home. That’s a crazy stat.
-
Matthews will be able to return his gloves in the pack as unused
-
Our passing today has been dreadful.
-
We are being outfought and out worked apart from any difference in ability.
-
88th minute
1-0 down at home and we’re passing it about on the edge of our own box
It’s pathetic
-
Well this is really going to get the fans back to the KMS when we are allowed.
-
Sunderland are strong, well drilled but unspectacular. We have been closed down and not allowed to play. Sometimes you just have to give props to the other team. They completely nullified us all over the pitch. A wonder strike won it.
The challenge for Darren what do we need to unlock teams like this.
-

I was just about to post that.
-
Hahaha lovely
-
Wow
-
Sounds shit lads
-
They wuz robbed.
Brilliant by Halliday.
-
time to put the masks on......daylight robbery ahahahaha
-
Oh dear. Spoiled Parkinson's day.
-
Get in you fickle f””kers :woohoo:
-
And of course what it took was a piece of skill by my man of the match Brad Halliday to unlock them...
-
Awful, just f**king awful, we stole a point there, deserved nothing!
-
was I not expecting that
-
Absolute class from Brad Halliday. What a robbery that was. Take it all day though
-
Cant wait to hear what spin DM puts on that performance.
-
Is it cos i've just arrived after yet another unscripted sleep
-
Two pieces of individual skill for the goals.
-
Totally undeserved we got away with that
-
Get in you fickle f””kers :woohoo:
It’s not fickle.....we are all watching the game, doesn’t need a degree to see we are poor
-
Get in you fickle f””kers :woohoo:
Not fickle at all! Was an absolute robbery. Was I still jumping around the living room though? Of course I was. Doesn’t take away from a very poor performance. However it has happened against us on many other occasions so not sorry 1 bit.
-
Absolute daylight robbery but we'll done Halliday MOTM.
-
Have any of these so called supporters ever played against a team that is far superior? You can try and try but nothing comes off. They kept trying and trying and got a lucky undeserved point, hats off!!!
-
Halliday was MoM for us before the goal. Brilliant assist by him. Well done Brad!
-
Awful, just f**king awful, we stole a point there, deserved nothing!
Very true...but who cares, eh?
-
If you come up against a better team with double+ your money a bigger (and deeper) squad and you come out of it with a point, you have done well....
-
Have any of these so called supporters ever played against a team that is far superior? You can try and try but nothing comes off. They kept trying and try and got a lucky undeserved point, hats off!!!
Not really sure what your point is. Are we not allowed to point out when the team have played shite just because they're up against a decent side? No one was disputing the effort, but it was still shite.
-
Cant wait to hear what spin DM puts on that performance.
I don’t think he will put any spin on it. We were second best from the get go, but stuck at it and nicked a point. Sunderland didn’t rain down chances on our goal. And we never never troubled Remi. In fact, they could have put Remi from the Stone Roses in goal to be fair.
What Sunderland did do is completely shut us down. They worked incredibly hard and killed any momentum we tried to build. They made us look crap. We’re not. But they were bigger, faster, hungrier. We were lucky but apart from the fantastic strike for their goal, Lumley did not have that much to do.
Sunderland have quality but little creativity apart from Gooch.
-
Do you realise there’s two teams in a game of football? Sunderland were superb, not one of our players would get in the Sunderland team, doesn’t make us shite, just they’re miles better.
-

That good they are 8th in the table? Superb? You are talking shite.
-
They were superb today, brilliantly organised totally stopped us playing.
-

Both our CB's would get in their team & so would Whiteman!

This isn’t fickle?
No further questions.
-
Cannot believe we got a point, but I'm delighted.
Halliday did so, so well to set that goal up. I had him to score today at 33/1 and I very nearly got that to come off! Anyway.
We were shocking today so it's a huge bonus to get the draw. Let's hope it spurs the players on to improve on Tuesday but we can't play like that again.
-
Have any of these so called supporters ever played against a team that is far superior? You can try and try but nothing comes off. They kept trying and trying and got a lucky undeserved point, hats off!!!
You keep saying try and try but I saw a lack of effort out there today. It was so obvious with the lack of movement every time Joe in goal had the ball at his feet. One bit of quality from us all game by Halliday and we get the goal. Work rate needs to improve on Tuesday.
-
Joe Wright would get nowhere near their first team, I doubt Anderson would, Whiteman maybe but nowhere near as good as Leadbitter, tough call with Scowen, thought he was class today.
-
Anderson would walk into their side
We were poor today, but it’s a good result
Forget it and move on to Tuesday
I thought Halliday was very good today, our best player
-
I don’t think there was a lack of effort, we just got outplayed and bullied, every time one of our players received the ball the Sunderland players were in their back, within the rules, just very competitive. No body could get near Leadbitter, absolute class, one touch all he needs, that’s way he’s played the level he has.
-
They were superb today, brilliantly organised totally stopped us playing.
They were well organised but that’s all, if they were as good as you are making out we would have conceded five but they hardly troubled Lumley. On the flip side we were naive, trying to continually play out from the back with no space instead of pushing up and playing long until Sunderland dropped deeper. Today was more how poor we were rather than how good they were, ask a Sunderland fan, I doubt any would agree with you anymore than I do
-
Anderson would walk into their side
We were poor today, but it’s a good result
Forget it and move on to Tuesday

I do like Anderson but I’d be surprised if he ever plays for a club of Sunderland’s magnitude.
-
I don't think we should 'forget it ' at all. Serious questions need to be asked and lessons learnt from this game , even if we did get a point.
-
Joe Wright would get nowhere near their first team, I doubt Anderson would, Whiteman maybe but nowhere near as good as Leadbitter, tough call with Scowen, thought he was class today.
You're joking? Call us all fickle for criticising a poor performance then speak as if our players are a bunch of no hopers compared to theirs. Our two centre halves would be good players for them in my opinion, they haven't been flush with top defenders since dropping to L1 and currently play two full backs in a back three. Whiteman would walk into any side in this division also.
You're giving Sunderland far too much credit for the standard they are currently at.
-
Anderson would walk into their side
We were poor today, but it’s a good result
Forget it and move on to Tuesday
I thought Halliday was very good today, our best player

Sunderland's magnitude!! They're in the same chuffing league as us & only 4 points infront.
Anderson is one of, if not the best CB's in this league.
-

Yep, a massive four points in front of us and we have played one game less.
The Beast seems to have a bee in his bonnet about people having a pop at our performance today but in reality we were poor.
I agree that Sunderland are a decent side but they aren’t as good as TB is suggesting.
When we did have the ball our passing was awful generally, even Ben was off it a bit today.
There seemed to be a lack of movement by the more forward players and even Sims was guilty of giving the ball away and he has been outstanding this season.
We were so lucky to get a point today but it makes a change not to be on the receiving end of something akin to that.
-
Anderson would walk into their side

Agreed Dickos, Halliday was my MOM.
He was everywhere. Right back? Don’t think so. Much of our attacking play evolved from his forward runs. He reminded me of Ian Snodin from years ago, winning the ball, looking up, searching for options, being brave enough to run at defenders with the ball.
How fitting it was that his brave and positive run into the box in extra time and his ball into Fej resulted in our goal and rescued a point.
Step forward Brad, fantastic performance today.
