Furman and Lundstram together in midfield may not be the Final Piece in the jigsaw but their presence will improve that part of the team hopefully to the extent of us winning the League One title. I saw Furman while he played for Rangers U19s, he was confident and played well within his limits. He never got a chance in the First team but that was due to managerial turmoil and not his ability. (Charlie Adam couldn't get a regular game at the time). The fact that he captained the U19s is a tribute to his ability and I look forward to a good few years of service from him.

Who was the last full Doncaster international ?
Would I be right in thinking Mark mccammon?

I believe it was Martis, playing for Netherlands Antilles who have since been dissolved.

Either that or Stock, who's one cap came quite a while ago now.

There's no wonder the Antilopes have been dissolved if Martis was typical of their standard!

They didn't dissolve the team, they dissolved the country  . Doubt poor Shelton can be blamed for that one!

And I cannot at all remember Stock earning 3 caps. Only the Russia one. Wikipedia says he has 3 caps but states they all came whilst he was here? Don't remember that at all.

The Oldham forum makes interesting reading, others rate him and others don't, hopefully our gaffer has seen something in him that will suit the players we have.

Bring on Saturday when hopefully he plays

They aren't half bitter about this on the Oldham forum. Can they really not understand why a player would rather be at a team top of the league than 4th bottom? Is there owt more to it than that? Oldham can't be giving it "the likes of Doncaster" routine, surely?

They're either calmly saying he's good or very angrily saying he's shit, both of which says to me he's not a bad player. Hopefully he'll fit right into our team and with better players around him will look a lot better, play the simple pass and sit in midfield like Keegan did.

Oldham fans not that happy, thread titled "Judas Furman"

Cheers Furman ~ we accomodate you to go off with SA ~ cos that's what you wanted and now at this crucial time you jump ship ~ cos that's what you wanted. In the words of that awful song "It's all about you ".

PS : Lovely picture on Donny's site of a delighted escapee.
Im not suprised at the Latics fans reaction about us signing Furman, they were just the same when we signed Wellens from them a few years ago. Ive just been on their forum and the latest poster has said " lets hope the sheepshaggers promotion push goes tits up"  :woohoo:

Why do they call US of all people sheepshaggers? I'm missing the connection totally here.

While all you lot have been fornicating with sheep, I`ve been left out, why was n`t I informed of the wooly gang bang? :)

Just one question mark for me and that is that he's left a team when they need him the most, can we expect the same somewhere down the line? Are we just a better shop window and before you start, all footballers are not that mercenary

Hang on a moment, SWex, Oldham AGREED to send him on loan to us.  You might want to ask just how much they wanted to keep him (planning for L3 maybe?)

What a midfield they've had over time - all of whom we were interested in:

Taylor - Wellens - Furman - Killkenny

Ha ha we've done it again to Oldham!! No wonder they're bitter.

I like to look on other clubs forums after playing them and time and time again they don't let me down. Can't think of another team with so much hate for us yet we couldn't give a shit about them.

As RedJ points out, they are completley in the doggy-doo financially.

I'm sure I heard that some team even gave them some footballs recently because they couldn't afford them

Weren't Oldham banned from swapping shirts in their cup games because they couldn't afford to buy new ones, or am I thinking of someone else?

The official site says we are paying his wages in full which gives them the opportunity to bring a few more players

And rightly so, players should always want to make a step upwards.

Worked for Sharp for half a season but I bet right now he's training in Nottingham and wishing he was back here.....

Thinking about it not many kicked on after leaving us really did they in recent years?  I've not heard much of the others who left last season.  Friend was getting rave reviews earlier in the season but we've not heard much about the others (Stock, Gillett, JOC etc)

Cracking signing this,Furman is a signing for the now and the future,he's capable of playing at Championship level, the right age,i think this is a financial decision by Oldham, they probably can't afford to renew his contract,i wouldn't think they'd want to lose him at all,as it is we've probably agreed a small fee to sign him permanent rather than them losing him for nothing, similar player to Keegan but better and younger, very good shrewd signing, this is the sort of deals we have to make to steadily build the quality up to go with the great team spirit. :scarf:

I think Gillett is qiute highly rated at Forest, same with Friend at Middlesborough
