We won two league games on the run?
Hopefully after tomorrow we'll all know.
-
Grimsby away and then Mansfield at Home was the last time we won 2 league games on the bounce. Didn’t quite realise that we’d not done it yet this season until you put this thread on.

Do you know when it was?
April 1st was the Grimsby game and 8th April the Mansfield.
-
Not that long ago really then
-
So if a week is a long time in football how long must 8 months be?

Presuming we do win tomorrow, it will be 25 league games between the two back-to-back win sequences - or more than half a league season.
-
If our league record over a season was W-D-W-D-W-D-W-D.... would anyone complain?
-
By the way. O’Driscoll waited from 26 Dec 2006 to 3 Nov 2007 between two sets of consecutive league wins.
Just sayin like.
-
So if a week is a long time in football how long must 8 months be?
So your including the 3 months when nobody plays football?

So you've never heard a commentator say so and so has gone 12 months unbeaten at home or whatever when he's clearly including the off season?

Dickos, So BST's including the 3 months when nobody plays football?

Yeah except it doesn't matter when it's someone he doesn't disagree with.
-
It's same for both points, daft including 3.5 months even more so when the total months is only 8 months, almost half the time being claimed nobody was playing
-
I can recall under Dickov going along time too without 2 consecutive wins.
Must be a common theme
-
Good old Dickos: can put a positive spin on anything.
Anyway, that's another opportunity gone.
So who would sooner us have got knocked out of the cup last week and won today instead?? Me for one

It doesnt work like that does it. We played terrific last week and smashed our local rivals.
Shouldn't have lost today but last week's result clearly has no bearing on today's.

No they wouldn't. But it's not

And you my friend can put a negative on anything

Maybe we shouldn't have lost, I wasn't there so I don't know. But we lost, end of. Last week was a cup game, completely immaterial in my mind. The league is the only thing that matters. We're too close to the relegation zone to keep losing in injury time

So, we've not won 2 on the run for 25 games. What's positive about that? Ill tell you what: nothing

Glad you agree that last week's game is irrelevant to today's then.
Look, it's not good enough at all that we keep losing it late. It sounds to me like we played well today, but couldn't take our chances. I really think we need to find a striker who is clinical in front of goal at this level. It doesn't seem as if Marquis is quite that at the moment unfortunately.

What's negative about beating Scunthorpe 3-0 a side that had won 6 on the bounce.
Nothing

It doesn't matter, it was a cup game. Did Scunthorpe not make something like 8 changes?
-
only as good as your last game and unfortunately we lost so we are crap until we win again

No

Left out Ojo and had full backs injured plus Novak injured.
-
So about 4 or 5 first choice players out.
-
And how many points did beating Scunthorpe get us last week? Nil. Zilch. That will really help us come the end of the season if we're in a relegation battle

Put it this way if we'd lost 3-0 you'd have been on here pissing and whining
-
Well to be fair he made it perfectly clear he didn't care whether we went through or not.
-
What he says before a game and after a game is a completely different thing.
He said before the mk dons came it didn't matter how we played as long as we won, and then when we won wrote paragraphs about how rubbish and lucky we were
-
He's not wrong though. On another day Milton Keynes should've been out of sight before half time.
-
Can't have it both ways. Can't say the performance doesn't matter it's the result that counts when you lose and then when you win say the performance was shit.
Unless of course all you're bothered about doing is posting negative tripe constantly
-
The fundamental point surely is that nobody can find our current position satisfactory and while there are some good performances, we keep making the same mistakes as we have all season and there is no consistent improvement - we are now pretty much where we have been in the table all season.
It is not good enough and the question is how we address this and in particular, stop making the same mistakes we have done all season.
-

No I wouldn't, because to be honest I really don't care about the cup competitions. I didn't even bother coming over last week and I won't for the next round either.
With regards to the MK Dons game, I think you'll find that I posted something along the lines of 'we won and we were crap but it doesn't matter'. And we were absolutely bloody awful in that first half and should have been dead and buried by half time. We stole a point against Rotherham and had it not been for a great save from Lawlor against Portsmouth we'd have only drawn that game as well.
All this all points to one thing: we're struggling at this level. The league table doesn't lie. Now whether that is because the players are not good enough, the manager doesn't have a clue, lack of investment by the board or even us as fans having too high expectations I don't know. Probably a mixture of the lot.
One thing I do know is that next week has become a must win game again. Lose and we're up shite creek without a paddle again.
ps. I still don't see us getting relegated
