Wind speeds at 18 mph gusts up to 35 mph, not ideal weather for football especially for the keepers. The strong wind will either allow Louis to keep the ball in play when he kicks it or conversely the ball could end up in The Don!Not a day for lumping the ball so fingers crossed our penchant for keeping the ball on the deck & having pacey players like the loanee from West Ham & players who are comfortable with the ball at their feet like Smith & Rowe May pay dividends. Is it better to play with the wind at your back first half in the hope it aids the attackers, or better to have it in your face until the new players ‘settle in’ & hopefully keep a clean sheet then push forward 2nd half with the wind with you? Always felt it a difficult choice.
Yes, the wind is howling. The ruin of many a game of football. Seem to remember a game at Grimsby? When Ben Smith? launched the ball into the night sky only for the ball to be blown back towards our goal and Matt Mills scrambled back to get a head on the ball only to see it loop over the keepers head into the net. It was actually Jos Van Nieuwstadt who headed it back and over Tiny Ben Smith.. freezing cold night too, lost on penos cup game.If memory serves the ball didn't touch the pitch from the point it left our keepers boot to hitting the back of the net!!
Forecast for Tuesday nights game looks similar too with high winds. Also, why are our winters generally so mild and wet these days? For example Bonfire Night's every year now are just wet and damp when about 30 plus years ago when i was young, Bonfire Nights used to be cold and crisp, like a proper winter where you could see your breath in the air. Wet and mild for the most part now every single winter. All we get every winter is floods, wind, grey skies, damp, rain and mild temperatures. Coldest i've been this year was Burton away. Other than that generally OK and only Feb to go now.
