Herbie Rides Again?

Talks looking good with Liverpool on the extension of Herbie's loan with us until the end of the season. Better still, Herbie's very positive statement in the FP, basically making it very clear he's absolutely loving it here. Great news, so far, and fingers crossed it all ends well for him and us.

I heard an interview done with him by Radio Sheffield earlier today.
He sounds very sure that he wants to stay and says he is really enjoying being at DRFC.

Young players of Herbie's calibre will be keen to achieve things in football and an opportunity for a promotion will be a good start for his CV. I would imagine it's desirable for all parties to extend his stay so I'm sure much of the groundwork has been done.

I hope he continues to concentrate on being the best he can be and learn to adapt as we start the winter programme where playing conditions can be very tough. He's a very bright prospect.

Herbie is a fantastic player and needs to be playing regular 1st team football to aid his development. This league One level is perfect for him at present and a full season with us would help both parties. I recall that we got a young Ryan Mason on loan at a very similar age and SOD hardly played him. Kept bringing him on for 10 minute end of game cameos, it used to frustrate the hell out of me that he played him so little, but look at the level he rose to. So much of our game goes thru Herbie now and it must be doing great things for his own belief and self confidence. Would love to see him on an extended contract until the end of the season. If it comes off he just might develop further with us at the next level next season.

To be fair, young Ryan wasn't up to it physically at that stage. Great talent mind.

I’m slightly (just a tad) disappointed that Herbie wasn’t at the game last week
