I am putting this on the Viking chat page as it is designed to be a fund raiser for the club and not a sale for personal gain.
A couple of days ago I collected from forum member Goalkick (good to meet you Roy) 24 Rovers official souvenir handbooks.
The intention was to put them on ebay and give all the proceeds to the Rovers but I came away thinking that it would probably take years and that I would be lucky to get two or three quid per handbook.
However I woke up in the night with a spellbindingly good idea.
If I sell them via this site I can avoid ebay fees and hopefully get more than I would on there.

At the end of this post I am going to list all the handbooks and hope to sell them all via this forum to you guys.
As they sell (hopefully) I will delete them from the list.
I will check each night and sell to the highest bidder during the day.
I will pay the postage.
I will notify the winner of each one by PM and you can give me your address details without broadcasting it over the forum.
I promise to delete the PM afterwards and not sell the mailing list to the government (LoL)
Buyers can pay in one of three ways.
By bank transfer to me.
Via paypal.
Cash on collection if you want to pick up from me in Hatfield.
I am hoping to sell them all in two or three weeks and will then transfer the sale proceeds to the Rovers.
Each night I will delete the sold handbooks from the list so as not to cause any confusion.
Remember, people can bid on the same item, highest bid when I check in the evenings wins.

So over to the forum members, make an offer on any of the handbooks listed below, offer what you want, however large or small an amount.
I will contact the winners by PM in the evenings to make arrangements to get the handbooks to you.

For anyone who has never seen these books, they are a really good read.

In order:
1969/70. Sold.
1973/74
1975/76
1976/77
1979/80
1981/82
1982/83
1983/84
1985/86
1988/89
1989/90
1992/93
1993/94
1994/95
1995/96
1996/97
1998/99
2000/01
2001/02
2002/03
2003/04
2004/05
2005/06
2008/09

Quite randomly, amongst the handbooks is a programme for the England under 17's team in the Portugal tournament in 2004.
It is quite a good read with an insight into the managers thoughts etc going into the competition and includes a "meet the players" section.
If anyone wants that just make a bid.

Cheers Roy, it is looking a bit bleak after this first day.
Not only no bids but no comments either.
Maybe people are skint after all.

Graham/Roy - collectors are every selective pals. I have around 10,000 programmes/handbooks etc. The common myth is there are some magic "gems" in someone's loft. There was a DRFC V Stockport 1933 Lately on e-bay, I dipped at £200 but it went for £340ish. That would potentially be worth the entire collection of someone with no special programmes from 1970-2000. All I am saying is we need to generate income from sales via  the club shop or personal donations of programmes. Like all true DRFC fans I am desperate to generate revenue  for the club but unless we get the 1912-13 Halifax Town Away I last saw on e-bay at £2500 donated we do what we can...

Hi Ian, good to hear from you again.
I get what you are saying but my thoughts were that not everyone will have such a vast collection as you do and I also thought that some of our younger posters might be interested in the older handbooks.
Anyway, we have a start with that sale to knockers so maybe others will follow.

Right then, there's still 23 year books to go at here.
I bought the 1969 one as that's the year i was born. Maybe everyone could do the same for their birth year (if it's in the list) or maybe their children's

It doesn't look like we'll get back into the ground anytime soon so the club still needs every bit of fundraising that we can muster up!
