Tonight’s team
COYR
-
Not confident at all tonight, injuries are taking their toll, bench looks weak
-
James injured as well then
-
Not much that's tried and tested on the bench... not hopeful
-
Not confident tonight but on a positive not when was the last time we had 3 homegrown players in the starting 11 for a league game??
-
Hopefully AJG can take advantage of his opportunity.
-
Is that the most products of our youth team starting a league game together in years?
-
Happy that we have a few academy graduates in the team but I must admit, I look at that line-up and then look at Oxford's and think we may be in for a very long night.
Hope whatever is keeping James out is not serious, we can't cope without him or Bostock (or Robertson!) for long. I shudder to think what our midfield would be like without Smith tonight.
-
Wonder if James was one of them Butler was referring to where they have flagged up as exceeded and may need a rest.
Bench is weak tonight but hopefully come Saturday we have Bostock, Bogle, Robertson and James back in if hes not injured.
Think we will need Greaves energy tonight as it was flat on Saturday in midfield.
-
Big chance for greaves tonight maybe the bit of bite in midfield we need
-
I've ordered ifollow, don't know why, not sure the last time I saw a good away performance? Or result. You never know?
-
Won an iFollow pass for tonight via the efl rewards app so will be sitting down shortly to watch it hopefully we can do a smash and grab job on Oxford tonight and come away with the 3 points.
Tbh I’d take a draw right now
-
Wow this could be a long night. I really hope I am eating my words at full time though.
-
Must admit, I'm not going to risk a blood clot watching this tonight.
Just hope the Players have taken their Oxford inoculation!
-
Confident we can get a result tonight. That could change in 15 minutes tho. ;) ;)
-
Great to see AJ being given a start, but it does show that we are struggling to get players through two games a week, for weeks on end. Hopefully youthful exuberance and energy will liven up our midfield. Go AJ!!! RTID!
-
Why did the co commentator say we are playing three games a week, week after week after week.
Ridiculous.
-
Will Oxford be more open than Northampton were? Almost certainly, can we take advantage? Let's hope so.
-
Bright start. COYR!!!
-
Hate that fake crowd noise.
-
Richards has to release the ball quicker. Holds on to it far to long sometimes
-
That’s twice in the first few minutes we have given Oxford a chance to score through prattling about at the back.
-
Started brightly but Jones almost gifted them a goal there. His passing has been good since he came into the side but he can’t get complacent.
We seem to have plenty of space and time on the ball, let’s hope we can take advantage!
-
We look pretty lively tonight going forward
-
Amos and Jones both with major f**k ups. Thankfully nothing coming from it.
-
a good balance to the team tonight, but they are allowing us to have the ball - and waiting for it to pounce
-
end to end stuff at the minute.
-
Amos and Jones both with major f**k ups. Thankfully nothing coming from it.
Add Wright and Halliday to that.
-
The Oxford commentary team are more entertaining than most opposition this season.
-
1-0 Oxford
-
1-0
-
It’s been coming
-
snuck in between Jones' legs
-
Halliday is struggling here.
-
snuck in between Jones' legs
Halliday, Wright and Anderson weren't great either there!
-
Our right side exploited again
-
Halliday is struggling here.
That’s an understatement. He’s been ripped apart on that wing by Barker
-
Not the first time Halliday is getting ripped apart this season.
-
Sorry but I really don't see what people on here see in Halliday
-
Amos has been poor so far
-
Disappointing as we hadn’t been doing to bad even with the few close chances for them
Fingers crossed we get back in to it quick
-
Halliday getting no help from either Richards or Elliot in front of him
-
Amos not doing so well on the other flank either.
-
Halliday is trying to push forwards and getting no cover when he does - he can't be expected to defend at the same time as attacking
-
Amos has been poor so far
Given the ball away several times already I’m afraid
-
Let’s be honest, apart from James our fullback options at our club are dreadful.
-
Amos so far out of his depth here. He might make a career being a part time player alongside a promising commentary career but league one footballer no chance.
-
Mistakes being made all over defence I'm afraid
-
Potentially Amos has been rushed back k a bit? He’s been out a while like. Still not great so far
-
Wright very lucky not to give that one away.
We are taking far too many chances at the back.
-
Amos was better last season, hasn't done well in the brief appearances this season. Doubt he'll get an extension.
-
Richards never looks interested
-
AJ Greaves looks well up for it. Let's hope it's catching.
-
AJ Greaves looks well up for it. Let's hope it's catching.
Looks up for it but in terms of passing ability he is seriously lacking.
-
Nothing in this game for us, they won’t lets us have ball
-
Same as Saturday. Not Gona score if we play all night unless we change tactics. Hoping we can keep it at one
-
Really impressed with AJ Greaves, bit unlucky after a bright start.
-
This formation is rubbish.
-
Oh dear, bad free kick conceded by Danny
-
2-0
-
Game over
-
Dead in the water now, such a shame.
-
Game over
-
Game over.
-
We are shocking.
-
ffs. everyone pointing fingers at each other. not offside - anderson playing everyone on.
-
Game over probably get a good besting here, we just lose possession cheaply
-
Clueless tactics, AB needs an experienced number 2 brought in to help him or we’re done
-
Jones is having a mare with his passing. We're trying to play everything out even though they are pressing everything.
-
Amos is struggling and doesn't look fit, Wright thinks he is Virgil Van Dyke but playing like Dick Van Dyke, Halliday gets beat far too many times. Good job we have Anderson.
-
Shocking defending again. No one watching their #3. Their number 9 who got the final touch was offside but we're shit so ah well.
-
The defending is atrocious.
-
Pretty clear we were a 1 man team, he has gone Preston and our season has gone to pot
-
This could get very bad, Amos and Halliday being beaten every time.
Danny hasn’t stopped a cross coming in yet, then concedes a clumsy foul and it’s 0-2.
-
I didn’t expect much tonight and said it would be a 3-0 defeat but this is by far the worst performance of the season.
-
3-0
-
Heading for a cricket score here ...
-
It was done at 1-0. We are shocking away from home
-
I don't think we've got it into their 6 yard box once. They have got it into ours twice and scored twice.
-
f**king b*llocks. How are we in the top 6? f**king embarrassing
-
Awful. Come back Darren, all is forgiven.
-
This is shocking I'm afraid.
-
This could be six or seven tonight.
-
I don't think we've got it into their 6 yard box once. They have got it into ours twice and scored twice.
We did, once.
Shot by Fej hit the defender.
-
I wish my phone wouldn’t update me with the scores
-
I don't even...
-
Mid table mediocrity here we come
-
I wish my phone wouldn’t update me with the scores
You could put it on silent I suppose.
-
3-0 HT
-
We were running the game until they scored. Wheels. Off.
-
Well, that first half was diabolical. At sixes and sevens all over the pitch.
-
Can’t see how we’ll finish in top 6. Too many injuries when we need everyone the most.
Not sure I blame the manager but it’s going to be hard to make a case for him been in charge next season when we drop like a stone now. Shame I wanted it to work out and not really his fault
-
Did anyone see how Copps put that ball down for the corner? Someone is getting a bollocking at half time.
-
We’re done!
Forget auto’s and forget play offs we are spent, too many lightweights!
-
What the heck was Smith doing for that 3rd goal, playing statues I guess.
-
Football eh?
-
We are absolutely rancid at the moment.
No invention, no ideas, no intensity, no movement, don’t look like we can even pass the ball, shooting ourselves in the foot over and over again trying to tap it around at the back, and we can’t defend to save our lives. When we do get into good positions we refuse to cross or shoot.
There is about 60-70 yards between our defence and attack, and all we’ve got to offer after knocking it around at the back is a long punt into a striker who has got no support around him.
Absolutely terrible. It’s looking like some of the results earlier in the season were papering over the cracks because the team we’ve been watching for most of the last 2 months is a struggling mid-table team, not a promotion team.
-
I think we know AB will not be manager next season!
-
Imagine this defence in the Championship.
-
Our next opponents are two up at Lincoln as well.
-
As embarrassing as I feared.
Second to every ball, nobody tackling, nobody making runs and several just stood around waiting for something to happen and you wouldn't say Oxford are anything special. An utter shambles and our glaring lack of depth is being finally exposed. This could be a cricket score!
-
First 20 minutes I thought it looked like 2 fairly even sides, the next 25 there was only 1 team playing football the other was chasing around like a dog chasing it’s tail.
Still 45 mins to go, this game could go 1 of 2 ways, a gallant fight back or more likely from what I’ve seen in the last 25 mins an embarrassment
COYR
-
You know what they say.....Funny old game innit ? Except I'm not laughing at the moment :(
-

The team i'm watching looks like mid table conference team, and that's being kind.
-
Pretty clear we were a 1 man team, he has gone Preston and our season has gone to pot
Ha ha!
-
Too many Players just not up to standard for promotion. Jones Halliday Amos Greaves Simoes and players out of position, No bite in midfield Copps never a center Mid needs to be out wide, Fej needs help up front, poor poor tactics
-
This will be 6-0, AB you’re not managing the Belles now! Get in there and dish some bollockings out!
-
It’s quite incredible how many times we choose to play the ball backwards. It’s not as if we do it and then rebuild an attack, we just end up getting flustered as they press us and we then lose the ball!
Even when we start running forward with the ball, numerous times we stop, turn and play it backwards.
Very poor. Damage limitation here now.
-
Its hard to blame this on injuries. We have some major work to do before now and next season because this set of players either arent good enough or theyre not prepared to dig in for the new manager which is going to be Butlers undoing. Barring Smith if its possible I would send the loans back now and play the rest of the season out with youths.
-
Thought we started really well & they looked low on confidence. They score & we fall apart.
-
I've ordered ifollow, don't know why, not sure the last time I saw a good away performance? Or result. You never know?
think ill donate Saturdays tenner to the cats home, more beneficial than me watching this!!
-
Looks like we're playing Man City
-
Thought we were playing with ten men. Several players not in the game.was not sure simoes was playing.watched all the games we have played and we are just going backwards. Cannot see where a goal would come from.
-
We look pretty lively tonight going forward
This aged well.
-
7 cert starters out for us to be fair take that out if any team they’ll struggle. But it’s still been poor would have hoped we could stay in the hand more and be harder to beat
-
Bollockings won't make footballers of them, Filo. You can roll a turd in glitter but it's still a turd.
-
Our players are obviously shitting it because of their crowd noises, they've got a 12th man.
-
I think it may be beneficial to get the Cowleys, or someone else in now, let them see who they would want out of our contracted players for next year, and sort this out. We are not a bad team, but this looks poor.
-
Unless we can get James, Bostock, Bogle and Sims back we can forget winning another game. Playoffs will be a pipe dream.
The side tonight is not good enough. Amos is not a league one left back. Halliday gets destroyed from any player with speed. Greaves works tackles but is not the player we need. Smith playing to many games. Richards as gone since DM left he lost his mojo. Simoes not good enough. Okenabirhie not a centre forward better on left. Copps is Copps but he won’t win games on his own.
-
12 games to go still in the playoffs :coat: :coat:
-
I have feeling we won’t be after Saturdays match.
-
Their last chance came again from us turning round and playing backwards, unbelievable.
-
Our next opponents are two up at Lincoln as well.
And the next opponents after that are 1-0 up too :(
-
Their last chance came again from us turning round and playing backwards, unbelievable.
..but isn’t this how we played under DM?...just asking.
-
Imagine being 3-0 down and bringing Cameron John and Madger Gomes on.
-
Mind blowing that we continue to play the same way and making the same mistake. Joe Wright will never suit a ball playing centre half as long as i have a hole in my @r$€
-
They’re queuing up for Christ’s sake!!
-
f**king hell we are a shambles!
-
Time to bring CJ on in his position, lets see if he can do any better than this pairing - who have been poor now for weeks.
-
Tackles
Them - 30
Us - 5
-
We are all over the place.
Only a matter of time before they score again.
-
How many have turned it off? I’m extremely close
-
We are all over the place.
Only a matter of time before they score again.
Come on, hound...think a bit more positive...please! :)
-
I'm all for keeping possession but we seem to look sideways or backwards as a first option rather than moving forward
-
that's not the best sub either, Simeos was the brightest player tonight for me, at least 9 others to come off before him
-
Greaves is injured.
-
I also thought Simoes was doing well tonight.
At least he was giving it 100%.
-
We are all over the place.

LoL.
That is quite a big ask mate.
It is just how I see it right now.
But...... if we could get the next goal......
-
I also thought Simoes was doing well tonight.
At least he was giving it 100%.
I think his race was run when he tried and failed to head the ball when completely unchallenged with no one near him!!
-
Not watching , not bothered.... said we’d lose by 4 ....and wasn’t really exaggerating, which is not a good place to be......
Back next year .......perhaps
-

That’s more like it, hound! Come on you Reds!
-
Shocking really. But it happens. Look at Lincoln.
Oxford are a good team. They have been decent for the last few seasons.
The way I look at it... we’re still in the mix, despite this. Too many players having dips at once. The injuries leave us short on options.
I wouldn’t write Andy Butler off just yet.
RTID
-
Look at that bench,
That’s not butlers fault
-
Lincoln are losing. Ipswich are losing. Portsmouth are losing. So the chasing pack hopefully won't make much ground on us.
-
We’ve not scored in almost 5 hours of football and have 8 points in 10 games. There aren’t many positives right now.
-
Lincoln are losing. Ipswich are losing. Portsmouth are losing. So the chasing pack hopefully won't make much ground on us.
Nice one, YAT. Not all bad news, eh?
-

It’s nonsensical to pretend the injuries aren’t having an impact
James, bostock, Bogle, sims, if fit these are our 4 best players, so it’s obviously going to have an impact
-
Lincoln are losing. Ipswich are losing. Portsmouth are losing. So the chasing pack hopefully won't make much ground on us.
True, but Oxford are winning. And Gillingham coming up on the rails too.
We won't make the top six without some of the injured players back.
-
Look at that bench,
That’s not butlers fault
The bench aren't the ones who have let us down though. Anderson, Wright, Halliday and Smith are all in our first eleven who should have done better.
-
BBC Sport Stats show Rovers having marginally more possession. Shots are 19/11 for Oxford and 6/1 for Rovers. I think that our only shot on target was in the first minute from Taylor Richards.
-
We would get battered in the championship with the core of this team anyway so another year in league 1 with some of the dead wood gone may not be such a bad thing
-
I will get my boots ready for Saturday , cannot be any worse than the result of them
-
Look at that bench,

Yes but the bench indicates the weakness of our starting 11, there’s 5 or 6 starting today who wouldn’t get in our strongest 11
-
I know we have injuries, but I don’t think AB is the man for the job
-
:scarf:

Fej had one from inside the six yard box blocked by a defender too, but the stats people don’t count blocked shots.
Edit. A good job they don’t as well.
Oxford had about six blocked shots in one goalmouth scramble.
-
We got a corner!
Get in!!!
-
Horton looks to be decent, and certainly hasn't looked out of place, or panicked by his start... yet
-
We would get battered in the championship with the core of this team anyway so another year in league 1 with some of the dead wood gone may not be such a bad thing
I think we may loose a few players to Wednesday and dm when they join us in league 1 next season. Contracted players as well not just those out of contract
-
We must be worrying them now having to make a triple change
-

The only players I’d be gutted to lose would be Anderson, James, Bostock and Bogle

I'm not sure there are many of this lot we would miss.
-
Get used to it AB stated this is the future, won’t be using the loan market as much
-
Williams not doing himself any harm.
He will probably get a start on Saturday.
-
Horton is a better option than Amos on tonight’s showing.
-
I'll say it again on Richards. Good at winning free kicks but he's not got the work rate or willingness to affect games. Nearly every pass is laboured, shots are tame and more often than not it just breaks down with him if he can't win a free kick.
He's not the only culprit tonight but this has become a pattern of his play over the last couple of months. We can't afford luxury players or manager projects in a League One promotion fight.
-
Where are the characters in this team? I don’t see enough now Whiteman has gone.
They all look like they are feeling sorry for themselves when we go behind. Obviously a lot of it is about ability but there’s a lot to be said for personality, character and mentality.
Could do with a few characters like that 2012-13 squad in there right now - Jones, Spurr, Quinn, Browny types.
-
Get used to it AB stated this is the future, won’t be using the loan market as much
Get used to what? You think this is intentional?
-
Well I didn't think we could be as bad as Saturday but we have managed it.
-
At least the subs have put some effort in.
-
Horton played well since coming on. Been a lot better second half but that’s probs due to them taking foot off gas. Hopefully bogle, bostock, Robertson, sims, James all back Saturday cos that won’t be much easier than tonight
-
AB has made a few "fan friendly statements" in an attempt to win fans over. Unfortunately it will be perfomances that get him the job, or not...and we just look like we have run out of steam, and ideas. Things can change quickly though, hopefully they do - the signs are not great though.
-
Amos wouldn’t be near a starting 11 again for me. Not the only poor performance tonight but he was absolutely out of his league.
-
Wright fecked up again there.
-
Fej has been their best player. How many times has he taken it off someone else's toe as they are about to shoot?
-
Got to give CJ a chance at CB. He looked brilliant when first on loan with us there and we have then decided to play him at LB ever since
-
Honest question....
As a club do you......
Continue to give a fan favourite the time to the end if the season as they said they would to prove they deserve the job or............
Show the fans they have a plan c should b not work even when he does have have fully fit team.
How many more games do you give him?
Do we put this one down to injuries? No one gave us any hope before the game
-
Horton and Williams did well when they came on and both deserve a start on Saturday.
Richards doesn’t seem to want to be involved until he is within 25 yards of goal.
Overall, deserved nothing from the game but at least didn’t concede after half time.
-
Would have taken that result at half time.
-
Headless chickens, start the search for a proper manager now
-
Positives: Clean sheet in the 2nd half. Clean sheets in the first and second halves against the Cobblers.
Result: 2-0! Have it!

Go and get the Cowley brothers now and let them sort this mess out ready for next season.

Is just about giving players games or wanting a side that can win at Gillingham.
If James is ready he plays.
If Bostock is ready he plays.
If Bogle is ready he plays.
Horton should be on the bench and is better than Amos.
-
Positives: Clean sheet in the 2nd half. Clean sheets in the first and second halves against the Cobblers.

I’ll have a half of whatever he’s on.
-
Headless chickens, start the search for a proper manager now
Not sure you can blame the manager for that shit show tonight.
-
I may be picking at things here maybe just because the defeat is raw but, I really dont wanna see the manager fist pumping our players on the pitch after the game. They are ultimately going to do him out of a job as well. May be a different story when the dressing room door closes but if im the manager of a team after that I wouldnt be doing that.
-
It’s hard to judge, yes we were bad for the 1st 70 mins but we are missing some good players, need them back soon as poss
-
Not least I think we are missing AB at centre back?
-
AB needs some help and fast. He needs an experienced assistant but I worry he doesn't have the contacts. Maybe he's asked people and no one wants to touch us. I know our injury list is appalling but that doesn't excuse a lack of heart, fight or personal pride. The telling stat tonight besides the score was the successful tackles 28 to 7.
-
Amos wouldn’t be near a starting 11 again for me. Not the only poor performance tonight but he was absolutely out of his league.
Think he would do well against teams who sit off us because of his crossing ability but when teams come and attack us he won’t do well because he isn’t the quickest, we do have to remember tho that he’s only just come back from injury and it’s not like he’s played any reserves football or anything like that. He will always be a backup to James while he’s here and even Horton after tonight will think he is above him in the pecking order as when he came on he didn’t look out of his depth and also had the pace and height that u need at this level.
