Title: Dougie/ Douglas Robinson
Post by: Guernsey Exile on April 26, 2024, 03:24:00 pm
I've just started a new job and the conversation about football came up.  One of the older chaps in the office says that he knew someone by the name of Dougie or Douglas Robinson who played for Doncaster at some point before moving to Guernsey in the 70's.

Anybody have any info?

I will ask some more questions on Monday. But he joined a states works department over here in the 70's, not entirely sure on the job he did.

We also had a full back called Fred Robinson (b1954) who played from 1975-78

Time-frames for the other Robinsons:
Les (b1967)1987-89
Maurice (b1929) 1952-53
Phil (b1942) 1961-65
Ronnie (b1966) 1986-88

Hopefully that might help  :scarf:

Edit: Just had another thought in case your friend has slightly misremembered the name - we had a Dudley Roberts (b1945) play 7 games for us in 1972, I think on loan from Mansfield.

All info from Tony Bluff's History of Rovers Book

Blimey Maurice Robinson 1953 ..I am really getting on in age then because I remember him so well down that left wing during a floodlit match at Belle Vue against Heart of Midlothian.

Sorry I was getting mixed up. I did mean Fred from the 1970s.
Thanks Dutch for your list.

I wondered if it might have been Robertson instead of Robinson, but the only one I have heard of is Stuart not a Dougie.
