Blanket weed....

Hi chaps
Has anyone got a solution that will get rid of bloody blanket weed from my pond? I do try hard to manage the ph of the water and I put some powdered clay stuff in which does have some impact. But I'm damned if I can get rid of a thick verge of scummy looking blanket weed all around the pond. And the bloody stuff still wont stop growing!
I've got fish and that pet snake in the pond so chemical poisons aren't going to be allowed.
All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks Barmby! The pond is lined with black rubbery pond liner plastic. Do you mean put plastic across the top?

Snails Bob, snails eat pond veg, snakes will probably not eat large ones therefore if you get some roman snails in and start a breeding program ............

That's a plan Sydney. My chuffing garden is full of sodding snails. I have anti snail campaigns on a regular basis. But I used to take 'em down the road to a big patch of open ground. I'll chuck em all in the pond next time.

I laughed about 6 years back when almost all Canals were covered it floating weed . A right mess affecting most Canals
Then on Look North they were at Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the interviewee showed off a test tube with 4 tiny worms and said "these are the solution to the problem".They will eat this weed and grow and breed and so on
Never did see the improvement in Thorne and often used to say (to myself) , looks like we need some bigger worms

I've eaten snail a couple of times, I thought they must have got it wrong in the kitchen the first time.

Cloverleaf Blanket Answer, Bob. Works a treat. Lots of videos on YouTube. Initially turns your water white, which is a shock first time, but this clears quickly. Harmless to pond-life and other plants, but very effective on blanket weed. Takes about a week for all the blanket weed to be gone.
I buy mine from Amazon -
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cloverleaf-BA1KG-Blanket-Answer-Beige/dp/B0037QLLMA/ref=asc_df_B0037QLLMA/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=230204386967&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1241259420562068008&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006679&hvtargid=pla-358949629670&th=1
but also available at most aquarist shops. I tend to treat my pond twice a year with it, (and it's exposed to full sun from dawn to almost sunset - so highly susceptible to blanket weed.). Highley recommended. A follow-up treatment of Cloverleaf Sludge Answer is also good, save vacuuming out the dying blanket weed that falls to the bottom of the pond.
