We've only had two defeats in the last 5 though, and they've only won 2 of their last 5.
So not too much different in form.

Theyve definitely improved under wellens though, should be a good tight game

Maybe because when you were typing it you knew you were trying to portray an incorrect picture

In Richies pre-match interview he has intimated that four or five of his squad have sickness problems that he hopes they have recovered from in time for the weekend.
He is confident they can push on up the table, and says he knows some of our players well as well as our manager.
Lets hope we can overcome them this weekend, and stop their climb up the league.

My guess is 1 or 2 early physical challenges on Copps and Rowe before the ref starts to dish out the yellows

We'll be playing them in League One again this season after tomorrow anyway.

Just listened to Gavin Strachan's pre match interview.

He acknowledged Oldham were playing in RW's image with good passing and movement. He said we'd counter this with high energy and closing down quickly.

As we know the high energy factor is something that's been absent for large parts this season. We look a decent team when we raise the tempo so why can't Fergie instill this as the norm rather than the exception?

I hope Blair is back in the side tomorrow being our only player with real pace.
I would also play Baudry on the right at the back instead of Mason, giving us better air power and is better  with the   ball and with his distribution.

It looks like Oldham rely a lot on the loan players of Doyle,Byrne, and Bryan, who have played cery well for them.
Their supporters are concerned that they will lose all three in January, and are tipping Doyle to go to Bradford.
It will not be easy on Saturday( no match is really for us in this league), with us having  to play well to compete, but if Rowe and Coppinger carry their form of the last two games into this game, and Marquis plays as he has been doing lately we have a chance.
Do you think Wellens will have a plan to nullify Coppinger with Knowing him so well?
I am expecting  a cluttered mid field and an untidy game.
Oldham did a lot of after deadline signings the names slip off the tongue quite easily

sep 12 Mohamed Maouche [Tours - Oldham] Free

sep 6th a job lot
Queensy Menig [Nantes - Oldham] Loan
Gevaro Nepomuceno [Maritimo - Oldham]
Abdelhakim Omrani [Sedan - Oldham] Free

and in the transfer market last day

as posted elsewhere I've gone 4-0 to rovers on this

Only the ones that say 'Loan' are loans. The rest were free agents.

That £10 entry did not work today the crowd seemed poor but the support and noise was there!

Didn't understand the unnecessary tinkering with the defensive shape. Wrong to bring Kongolo on for Whiteman and why Tyler Garratt when he was doing well after a shaky start. Back 4 had done really well, full backs were stopping the crosses, then the crosses start coming in and surprise, surprise!

Because they changed their shape and had about 4 centre forwards. Made sense to bring some height into the defence

You cannot miss chances like Alfie May did and expect to win a Football match.
Beestin was shot fifteen minutes from the end of the game, and we were overrun in midfield,Fergie tried to stretch the game by waving Marquis and Mandeville to stop up front, but that left us short in midfield, which he admitted after the game.

Alfie May didn’t miss the keeper saved it !!! If he hadn’t it was in . Beestin was out of his depth against players who were quicker to the ball and had more purpose with it . DF to be fair pick a team based on what was available to him and it showed . We have too many players under performing as well as injuries to key players.

At last, a bloody sensible post. Well done 1969!

I keep saying it, the midfield is our main problem. That and the fact that we seem to be content to play anybody at full back, rather than get the right people. Fair enough, Andrew and now Toffolo both injured and Garrett inexperienced but getting better bit by bit. Where is the right back, though?

Alan,I would look for another right sided defender, but would try Baudry there, he is right footed but keeps being played on the left.
Surely if he has been played on the left, it would be no great problem to try him on the right. he seems more reluctant to bring the ball forward when on the left, and like one or two other players is ignored for longer periods after one poor game at Wigan (where he was no worse than half a dozen other players).
He is not the first player to be ignored by our manager this way.

The chance that May had when he tried to lift the ball over the keeper was not really a bad miss.
It was actually as fantastic save by the keeper.

Exactly. Selby makes it sound as though he's missed from two yards out in the middle of the goal when the keeper and entire defence are standing behind him.
