Rovers Double Dutch Quiz
« on July 08, 2015, 12:35:46 pm by Dutch Uncle »
As a Dutch speaker I have literally translated into Dutch the names of a 'Double Dutch' Rovers team, i.e. a Rovers 22 player squad, plus a manager and assistant. All players are either from the Rovers 100 Greats book, or have played for Rovers in the last 10 years. There is only one exception to this, one I could not resist from the 1970's. In some cases I have translated  according to sound rather than spelling e.g. if I had chosen Jason Shackell I would have translated Shackle, or I might have chosen to translate Sail for Mark Sale. The squad has 2 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 8 midfielders and 4 strikers, and the Manager and Assistant have both been Manager of Rovers at some stage. In alphabetical order of Dutch names they are:

1.   Dagelijks
2.   Draaistier
3.   Gezond
4.   Ingesneeuwd
5.   Kerkbank
6.   Keuken
7.   Klein
8.   Koffiemelk
9.   Kraam
10.   Kudde
11.   Meer
12.   Mijnwerker
13.   Molens
14.   Pauw
15.   Portier
16.   Rodevaren
17.   Schilder
18.   Slim
19.   Stijlen
20.   Vijfling
21.   Vogel
22.   Vredemaken

Manager: Lulweg
Assistant: Brakgat

Who are they all? If this turns out too hard at first I can either give first name initials, or give player positions, i.e. Keeper, Defender, Midfield or Striker

Correct Guernsey. I have actually chosen Matt rather than Joe.

16 is Neil Redfearn only because Rod is red I believe and I can't think of another name with red in it.

I know a bit of Afrikaans so that's the only reason a few look familiar-is to me.

He is the odd one out ..... played in the 1970's but not in the 100 greats, about 30 appearances, regular for one season
