Lincoln win by 4 clear goals Lincoln go through  :crying:

not impossible,  but that's a pretty thin lifeline

I dunno, a 1-0 or 2-0 win for Lincoln is well within the realms of possibility..

I think it’s down to Warne now and if he actually wants to progress, he has the upper hand now in knowing what the game against Lincoln means in terms of qualification.

We’ll have to wait and see what team he puts out.

According to the OP, that wouldn't be enough.

The final 2 group games should IMO be played on the same night. Both Lincoln and Rotherham now know what they have to do.

Lincoln beat Rotherham 2-0 away and have just beat Sunderland 2-0 so I would think a Lincoln win is very much the most likely outcome unless they think to win by 4 clear goals is imposable and just field a youth team :ermm:

Just notest this is the only home game they play between 4 away games over 5 weeks so they may put out a decent team for the home fans.

I think the OP has said Lincoln win by up to 3 clear goals so 1 or 2 would do ? Providing he has got it right and I havent checked but trust him  :aok:

Er, yes it would.. 1- or 2-0 is less than 3 clear goals..

I think there is a misunderstanding between us all as to what the OP actually means. If 1-0 or 2-0 is enough, why mention 3 goals at all? Or that 6-3 or 7-4 won't suffice? The whole post suggested that they'll need at least 3 goals.

he means that if Lincoln win by three clear goals AND score 6 or more, Lincoln go through,  If Lincoln win by 4 or more, they go through.

If Lincoln win by a margin of 3 but score less than 6, or if Lincoln win by a margin or 1 or 2, Rovers go through.

Do we want the lifeline? I’m all for us getting somewhere in this competition especially with the final money that is on offer but if we went through in this, the FA Cup and our re-arranged league game(s) we will be very busy indeed at some point. We haven’t got the most in-depth squad and out of the three is this the “best” one to miss out on? Of course we might go and lose at Wimbledon in the FA Cup and be awarded the Bolton points so it all becomes irrelevant. I just don’t see us being able to sustain all 3 at once without some more depth coming in.

Well said mate. With a threadbare squad, our league games have to take top priority over everything else.  A huge backlog of fixtures could seriously derail our top 6 aspirations.

Campsall seems to be the one to follow me with this

Rite Lincoln goal difference 1GF-4GA -3 Rovers 6GF-6GA -0

Lincoln have to match or better Rovers  goal difference of 0, but if they match it 6GF-6GA Rovers go through by virtue of  previously beating Lincoln.

If Lincoln win 1-0 2-0 3-0 it will not improve their goal difference over Rovers 4-0,5-0, 6-0,5-1,6-1,6-2, 6-3,7-0,7-1, 7-2,7-3,
7-4, etc, etc, etc. Will and Lincoln will go through. :headbang: :suicide:

Forgot to say if Lincoln goal difference ends up 4GF - 4AG =0 or 5GF - 5GA=0 Rovers go through having scored more goals(6)

If only.!!

For Rovers to progress, Lincoln have to win by less than 3 goals.  If they win by 3 goals exactly, then they also have to score at least 6 in doing so..

It s not Brexit.!

I’m indifferent to the competition format as it is, but it is always good to see the team progress.. if we get a second chance, great.
