AS and HAS!
« on January 16, 2011, 08:40:41 am by Nudga »
I know I may sound really petty here but it is boiling my piss that people don't know the difference between these two tiny words,as and has. FFS spell it how it sounds, just a refresher here;

Rovers were poor yesterday, but don't worry it HAS happened before.

We will bounce back though AS I am sure you will agree, SO'D knows what he's doing.

There (or is it their, they're? that's another f**kin one) my petty little rant over.

I have a pet theory on this one. Because in a way being on here or any other medium in which conversation flows all be it sporadically, people tend to type as they would speak, therefore their accents come out in the way they post.

I know I'm dreadful for doing that if I am on msn, although I do try to correct myself if I am on here...(it don't always work tho..lol)

i before e except after c

However apparently there are more words in the english dictionary that break this \"rule\" than stick to it

\"Of the 319 words in The Collaborative International Dictionary of English that contain a combination of cie or cei, 212 words (66%) are exceptions to the rule.[9]\"

My Science Teacher was also my English Teacher at secondary School. He used to preach that incorrect little quote.

The irony of the fact that is didnt work for one of the subjects he taught was lost on him.

It does my head in too. The English language is a beautiful one, and it annoys me when people write on forums or send texts and can't be bothered to use it properly. My own daughter is a prime example. If she sends me a texts where she wants to say OK. I almost always just get 'K'. Also the non-use of capital letters for propers nouns bugs me. Another rant over!

I reckon the problem is they are spelling it as it sounds, it's common to hear people drop the h off the word has in Donny. Asn't you noticed?
