Wellens

A class above in the middle of the park, despite the result. Looked fitter than his last spell here, wouldn't think he was 33. Let's hope the exit rumours are false.

I agree he's class but let's face it, the first club to offer him the contract he's after and it's farewell Richie. Doesn't seem it'll be us unless we find some investment.

There were plenty of them but Blackburn seemed to be the club he was rumoured to be going to.

Thought he came in and out of the game just like the rest of the team. I don't think they are true otherwise why has Dickov played him? Not 100% committed to DRFC and that...

I don't hold out much hope for that from any quarter sadly.  :(

He's a good playee, but I think he made a few mistakes today, wayward passes in particular.

The exit rumours are false he's hanging in as long as possible in the hope that the club can cobble a deal together - basically he wants to stay

If he was that desperate to stay he'd lower his demands surely.

As we don't know what his demands are, we don't actually know.
Ones thing's for sure: if we don't offer him a contract his last game will be Saturday. And probably Wabara as well. Although I suppose his loan could be extended..........

How do we know Saturday will be Wellens last game he signed a short term contract were we ever told how long for?The transfer window doesnt really matter as he would be a free agent anyway.

Whatever happens to Richie and good to him he is the only championship standard midfield we have in our side. The others try hard but he is head and shoulders above the rest. Yet last night he had his work cut out.

According to us? According to PD his contract is as long as a piece of string.

But he want be here if we cannot pay his wages according to you his wages are to high for the club. So we have to second rate but cheaper options. Lets not put the clubs future in jeopardy by continuing to pay him.

Did I say that? I doubt it. What I did say was that my colleagues at Leicester City told me his wage demands were far too high and that would be the reason we hadn't signed him on a longer deal. Add to that the signing on fee he would demand, plus his agents fees and we have a player who doesn't fit within our playing budget.

As good as he is I doubt very much this one man will be responsible for our future. We had lots of occasions in recent years where a player was too valuable to let go, we managed to replace them and this will be no different.

And who would want to take Harper or Bennett on loan?
SM, one of the VSC Directors stated on this forum, Wellens contract was for one month. Can't remember which one, but it was said on here

I thought it was a roller- he can stay with us till we sign him permanently or someone makes him a better offer.
