How is Beckford 3rd? Even Leeds fans will tell you he aint that good.

Amazing how players from League 1 and League 2 get in there but none of our own... there is a reason that the likes of Le Fondre are playing in League 2....

If he is good he'll be at Newcastle soon, he is Chris Hughton's son.

For that reason alone he was probably bumped up about 300 places over far better players!

This is how the list was compiled :-

The FourFourTwo Top 50 is, in essence, a vote by the fans for the fans.

It is the chance for the loyal supporters of the 72 Football League clubs to show their appreciation and recognition for the players they see doing the business week in, week out, at their own club and beyond.

Voting was compiled via FourFourTwo.com over a two-month period and from that, the Top 50 began to emerge.

But to ensure some form of parity, knowing that fans of Newcastle and Leeds, for instance, far outweigh those of Macclesfield and Accrington, players and managers throughout the three divisions were also asked for their top five players, but with the instruction that they could not select players from their own club.

Media pundits from the national press, TV and radio also gave us their input and all votes were added up to give us the definite Top 50.

Loan players from outside the Football League could not be included, nor are players who left the Football League in the January transfer window, hence the omission of Watford’s Tom Cleverley, Nottingham Forest’s Radoslaw Majewski, former Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson and ex-Crystal Palace forward Victor Moses

So, there we are, we didnt vote enough.

That would explain to some extent the absence of Sharp n shacks as they are on loan and their parent club fans are unlikely to vote for them not being in their team and was rovers fans allowed to vote for loan players? The wording \"for the players they see doing the business week in, week out, at their own club and beyond.\" implies sheff utd could vote for Billy but not us.

Read it properly Drover. any player at DRFC UNLESS parent club is Premiership ( Shakell, JET etc ), could have been voted for by fans of DRFC AND any manager in the championship could vote ( but not for his own players).. The reson no DRFC players in the 50 is purely because OUR OWN FANS obviously didnt know 442 were conducting the poll, and didnt vote.

Oh yeah, forgot shacks was from a premiership club, but I still think it's highly likely that Sharp still being a Sheffield utd player meant only their fans could vote for him.

Billy Sharp did get into the 'reserve list', but it does just show how far under peoples radars we still are. We know that we've got 3 or 4 (or more?) real quality championship players in our team, but when the likes of Sharp,Stock,Oster,Copps and Shacks are overlooked in favour of Savage,Best,Lee Hughes etc it can hopefully help us hold onto/sign permanently some of our under-rated squad.
