Where do you get 6/7 from, Camps, as GM has clearly stated he wants 8, so that means 6 more to get! Now, I’m not sure if, out of that 6, some, or all, of the lads who’ve been offered deals, are included? If that was the case, it only leaves 2 more new signings to get.

I don’t think GM does mean that - I think he wants 6 more new signings. And it’s quite easy to suggest 3 positions that are yet to be filled, namely RB, DM and target man, which completes the spine of the team.

IF we’re true to our word, that we’re going for promotion, then there is still a lot of work to be done.
No way would GM have come back unless he had been guaranteed a budget ypthat gives him a chance.
No way would Richard Wood have signed unless he thought the Club were serious about going up this next season.
Yes he will want 8 new players I am sure. Especially if he can offload those who he wants to that are on contracts.

Cook and JCH are big lumps anyway. We can do better can't we?

Leading goalscorers in league one and league two. Surely that’s exactly the type of player we should be after.
Either would be great signings

Don’t Peterborough just transfer list everyone who is in the last year of their contract?

Dreaming if you think we can do better than JCH at level we are at.

Surely it’s a joke to suggest we could sign JCH. Cook would be a bit more realistic but even then it’d be a coup

I see that Ferguson has made Tomlinson and Pym available for transfer, and oddly Clarke-Harris. Can only assume latter has refused to sign a new deal and they are trying to monetise him while they can.
Isn't it Peterborough's policy to transfer list all players in the last year of their contract?

Thats correct yes.

A no.1 goalie

An attacking minded right back

A tough midfielder who can shield the back 4

A box to box midfielder who can cover ground

A target man who can put a shift in and bring others in to play

A fast left winger / forward.

Football is a simple game at this level. If we this tick those boxes well with decent players in their prime with our excellent manager we will get promoted no problem.

Signing unproven youth is fine here and there but we need a core group in the 24-29 age range with a bit of know-how. We have the budget to do that.

Not sure what you are expecting this window but I suspect you are going to be very disappointed if you think players like Clarke-Harris are in our price range.

I wasn’t suggesting that at all, my response was just to baz who suggested we could do better than those 2

Cook would be just the signing that would sell more season tickets and get the buzz back into the ground.
Someone who could score 20+ goals next season is exactly who we should be trying to sign.
We have also missed out on a very good box to box midfielder who has signed for Worksop Town.
Apparently he was the best player on the pitch every week in the spell he last had with them.

You wouldn’t have thought so last season.
By the way, this forum is still missing that tongue in cheek emoji.

DBR was just joking.
Because they would want Football at a higher level and command large salaries we wouldn’t be realistically able to get either of them.
Therefore DBR was just saying they’re only big lumps anyway. So why would we want them.
Can’t believe anyone thought he was being serious.

Ravenhill
Degruchy
Kuleya
Should all be sent out on loan

Clarke-Harris also under contract so a fee would be involved as well, which we very rarely pay and almost never at the level this lad would demand.

Can we ban the names Jonson Clarke-Harris and Andy Cook on this thread please. Anyone who thinks we have any chance of signing those two players this transfer window are on some seriously hard drugs.

We can cross off a RB from the wanted list.

5 more required.

Great news. Another one slots into place.

So that's two of my four from the spine and one of four for other positions.

You're right about our manager being excellent, and his choice for the No 1 goalie is Lawlor.

Get in Liam Kinsella and Liam Kelly next and the midfields sorted.

If Partick don't go up I'd be straight to Scotland for Scott Tiffoney for the wing.

Cracking summer so far. From desolation at the end of the season after another defeat under Schofield we've appointed McCann, released Williams and Mitchell and signed 3 players already.  Well done all.

McCann very sensibly making the defence strong before moving forwards.

Listening to GM’s interview, there could be another defender coming in next, before he starts to address the midfield. Strikers, he says, will take a little longer, as everyone is after them!

We’re going to have some choices in defence, as things look. I wonder if 1 or 2 are moving on?

Latest DFP update. Not too much to add to what McCann said.

https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster-rovers-closing-in-on-more-new-signings-following-jamie-sterrys-arrival-4160514

Could be close to one, maybe two....

That info came out of GM’s interview, when talking about Sterry. One more defender and then we move onto midfield. Forwards will be later in the window.
