Leeds are set to sign Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp for £600,000

Just signed on before finishing work for the day to find this on www.sportinglife.com.

Tell me it's not true.

Daily Star?

Well then, bye bye Sharp.

Even I'm sick of these rumour threads now. Can we keep it to one, stickied thread?

If not Leeds, then it will be Barnsley or some other Championship side willing to pay higher wages than ourselves.  Unfortunately Billy doing so well for us last season will have alerted more clubs to him and we will not be able to compete financially with these.

Those who think that we have a chance of signing Sharp are very much deluded.

Unfortunately, its also in the Daily Mirror today. It says they won a wages war with Derby. I believe this one I'm afraid.

This rumour i find very strange. Did not the powers that be at DRFC say \" We have ageed a fee with SU, only sticking point is salary\" last season, only to follow up with \" DRFC are paying ALL BS wages\".

I guess its one thing to pay short term wages, but full contract wages is another.

One door shuts another opens i suppose.

\"Grayson has won a wages war with Derby to raid Leeds' Yorkshire rivals for the 24-year-old.\"

Am I missing something here! were we not involved in this chase for Billy? The papers seem to think it was/is a two horse race.

As soon has they mentioned Derby we probably said forget it,why waste petrol money/expenses/stationary on bidding against someone who we know we cannot compete with.

I'll be very surprised if we sign Sharp, it just won't happen.  But 600k?  I'm not sure the Blades are that daft.

I think it's pretty much folklore that if Billy wasn't at our club last season we would've be dicing with relegation.*

I got a call from someone allegedly \"In The Know\" prior to the Brizzle Rovers game that this was being negotiated.  But the call was initially to advise of a nailed-on signing by Leeds, a certain Mr M McIndoe, who was actually attending the game.

Well, it's got as much credibility as that drivel on the Football Rumours Site.

Nothing will happen with Billy moving clubs until after the end of this month.

He's waiting till after his stag do this weekend, then he gets married at the end of the month before anything is made public on which club he is going to..

It then saddens me to say he will become a Leeds player.

Yes billy scored a bag full of goals  but guess what if we didnt sign billy then someone else would have been on there way and who knows how good they would have been.
At the end of the day BILLY NEVER KEPT US UP BY HIMSELF,THE WHOLE SQUAD kept us up.
There was 10 other lads on the field playing not just sharp,ok oster and wilson dont score many but they were still massive in keeping us up,billy is paid to score and others are paid to keep cleansheets/provide billy with support and all the rest.
A big well done should go to everyone involved in d.r.f.c from the backroom staff to the first team, they all played there part 1 way or another.   :)

I will say it again.
1 man does not make a team!    ;)

I said all along that if Leeds got promoted and Blackie kept his job that he'd end up at Bellend Road.

We should be going for the likes of Pitman and Le Fondre, lower wages and a good chance of improving them and a good selling on profit.

Ha!

Daily ritual actually. I usually finish work around 6.00pm and with the time difference I can get the morning news from the UK tabloids while you lot are just waking up in the morning.
Still not at all happy about the thought of Billy plying his trade at Elland Road. Let's hope we can lock in Oster before someone notices on the highlight reel the job he did for us last season.

Cheers

Phil
