Marquis moaners

To set some clarity we were absolutely toss before he went off, but afterwards.. just wow. We could’ve played every day for 4 years straight and offered absolutely nothing. Forever singled out and when he’s gone he’ll be better off than we are, get behind him for goodness sake

Yep. It sounded like we were crap before he went off, and it sounded like we were crap after.

Teams down to 10 men take points from 11 men quite often. We were at 0-0 against comfortably the worst team in the league. A positive result was still possible, albeit more difficult.

The main concern is that our recent away record has been poor. We've taken only 2 points from our 5 away games in 2019, conceding 9.

So to culminate in his recent below par performances where he’s missed more chances than he’s scored , been told about his petulance in some games he gets what was always coming “A sending off” . We all want him to play and score he’s our top scorer but either Sunderland rumours of a big payday is still ringing in his ears or he just cant play through a down patch and pressure has got to him but this could be a blessing in disguise. He’ll be back for Barnsley rested and raring to go!

Marquis should have at least 30 goals, nowhere near clinical enough.

He is good but not ruthless or infatic enough . If someone is prepared to pay over the odds , then take money and buy Wilks an A another !

How many has he scored is it 22 not bad for a player off form.  The trouble is the other players don't supply the ball to him enough, it's not entirely his fald fault but it is sometimes when he puts it over from a yard or misses an open goal

22 is good but he could have had over 30 and we’d be in top 3 by now not looking at the Peterborough score line on Tuesday.

If he was that prolific he’d be playing in the premier league and not for us. Get a bit of perspective.

Perspective is seeing what is in front of me and I see a player who’s off his game and apart from missing glaring opportunities he’s scoring own goals and getting sent off . Nothing wrong with my perspective!

Yes he is going through a bad spell but so is the whole team.
Why is it Maquis bashing time with some on here.
Always seems there has to be a scapegoat.

It isn't ideal that we are without Marquis on Tuesday. We will need to come up with a different approach.

However - I thought at Shrewsbury the other week that Marquis could perhaps do with a game off. McCann was never going to leave him out, but a bit of a rest might have him a bit fresher.

John is a player that needs to be playing not left on the bench that is the only way he will get his confidence back, and the other players need to learn how to play to him

Marquis had gone through lean spell before and he’s bounced back , but he can’t change his over game as he has deficiencies he can’t alter , he isn’t that physical when up gainst taller and heavier defenders and seldom out jumps them .
His first touch is often poor and gives away possession regularly.inspite of this  his strengths are many, his determination to force defenders into a mistake and capitalising on it . He runs th ful length of the pitch throughout the game to help build a move to create openings for others .
His knack of getting to positions to score is his biggest strength when poaching the loose ball  . He does need to work of his over all finishing try be more creative in the box and not be the static observer getting caught off side too often . He’s frustrating and infuriating but he is unique and charismatic and he’s probably the best we’ll see for a long time .

As said above if he was as prolific as some of our fans think he should be, he wouldn’t be pulling on a Rovers shirt. All strikers go through a bad spell but let’s acknowledge the goals he has scored
