It was great entertainment. Sunday afternoon down York Road Stadium

Got loads of Progs including Young England v Young Czechoslovakia at York Road

Strangest memory ? They let a complete novice straight from the crowd have a go on a Bike !!!! He revved the hell out of it and dropped the clutch when the tapes went up. Result a wheelie so big he went over backwards with the Bike landing on top of him

Cue St Johns Ambulance "men" and a stretcher. Never saw anyone try it again

Used to work there 1st as a raker on the last bend then as a pusher in the pits. Nearly got a good hiding from one of the riderss when trying to rig the balls for the challenge race

I used to go as well Wolfy.
I right enjoyed it. They used to have a novice race or something every week. After seeing the likes of Shearer make it look easy they would go round at half pace wobbling all over.
One lad starting out had dark hair, was it Doug Wyre or something. He was slow but ended up getting better and better. Think he went to Sheffield and represented GB at one stage.
