Rovers links at the weekend
« on August 09, 2010, 10:06:33 am by Jonathan »
Just a few things I noticed from the weekend:

Good to see Paul Green and Gareth Roberts put in impressive performances for Derby at Leeds.

Jason Shackell seemed to be exposed on the ground for Barnsley against QPR and was turned inside out for the first (although I still wish we'd signed him). Matt Mills was arguably at fault for both Scunthorpe goals although I still wish we had him!

As many of us may have predicted, Tom Kennedy began the season as an unused substitute for Leicester having turned us down to sign for them. He may have to get used to that this season. Also surprising to see Wellens start on the bench for them, although it looks like they picked up after he came on.

Sean McDaid started for Carlisle although it was disappointing to see Heffernan as an unused substitute for Sheffield Wednesday. Lewis Guy got on late for MK Dons while Ben Smith started for Shrewsbury.

Elsewhere, the striker we have looked at from Crusaders (Jordan Owens) scored 2 for them in a 3-1 IPL victory.

Also Jonathan, I thought Eliott Ward didn't do too well for Norwich against Watford on Friday, as he seemed unlucky with Watford's first, deflecting the shot into goal, and turning sideways from the shot which gave them the second goal. Should have done better with that one IMO.

I noticed Wellens on the bench also - dare we whisper a conspiracy theory about all not being well between RW and Sousa over the Leon Britton incident?

I wouldn't if I was you, Sousa wasn't their manager then  ;)

Also, John Spicer came on as a 74th minute sub for Ricky Ravenhill in Notts County's 3-0 home defeat to Huddersfield. Graeme Lee also played for Notts County.

Also Kevin McIntrye got what he deserved and was sent off for Shrewsbury against Bradford.
