Happy St Hayter's Day!
« on May 25, 2013, 01:37:57 am by RedJ »
5 years ago today, it was. Anyone got any photos of their experience that day?

Our own Paul Mayfield's reaction to the final whistle - unforgettable.

Now Doncaster can dare to dream.

I think about this moment every time I put my "Hayter #12" shirt on. I'll never forget it, or how nervous I felt for the following 45 minutes! I've never been so happy to see a goalkeeper catch a ball as I was when Sully kept claiming it.

It's funny, I never felt nervous once after we scored. I knew we were better than Leeds.
I thought it was going to be one of those days when we should have been 3 up after 15 minutes, but the best team won :-)
And the rest as they say...........................

I thought the queues would be massive for so the best time to get a half-time cuppa would be just as the teams were coming out and nothing much would happen -oops.

I don't normally swear, but when the  Lino held that board up for four mins I ranted and raved, and mixed in it was" You f*****g trying to kill me off?".
Now every time I see the board for four mins I instantly think back to Wembley. I think that was just practice for the game at Grifin Park..... Anyone remember how that one finished?....... Memories eh

remember our esteemed W Yorkshire cousins streaming from our side to congregate behind the goal to my right so they could be together when they won.....oh yes i remember now THEY DIDN'T....
Same on the way down, one car with red and white scarf out of the window vs at least 10 cars mini buses with their colours.
I am with Lincoln on this, once we scored we did look like we were going on to win and i was not as concerned as, say, Cardiff when we surrendered the 2 goal lead. However, its easy to say that now eh?

i was on my honeymoon in jamacia and had to scour the place for a bar that was showing it. I found one thankfully and was drinking red stripe at 0800 in the morning a couple of villa fans joined us and celebrated with us . A couple of yanks in bar thought we were mental as we celebrated . It was vack to the hotel later to continue tge celebrations with some cocktails heavily laced with rum . what a day

Funny int it. We were dreadful for years from set pieces. Yet that delivery by Stock was sublime. I wonder why we weren't more effective from corners when Stock was able to effortlessly play a ball like that?

I think, BST that we never had players that truly attacked the ball like we have now. We had good headers of the ball back then, a la hayter, mills, but not sure we showed the same desire as we do now to win them.

Regarding set pieces, I thought reading down here the other season were the finest example of set pieces I have seen live. Harte was pinging them with pace right on the money every time. Needless to say I wasn't surprised when they eventually scored from one!

Better than that, the club are considering approaching Brentford to buy the crossbar off them to mount in pride of place in the Belle Vue Bar.

I think they are just plucking up the courage to make the call.....
