Absolutely brilliant.  I opened it fearing the worst.  Loved it!

Football how it used to be before money completely took over the beautiful game?

Oh you tease! How "did I not like" that headline .... so of course I read the thread!

The Belle's success kindled my interest in women's football and I greatly enjoyed watching my wife play for West Ham Ladies some years ago. The writer of the article is spot-on .... taking a corner from the correct place, not diving, not screaming and rolling over when touched more lightly than a feather duster, rarely spitting, not doing embarrassing (potentially ligament damaging) and silly goal celebrations and continually posturing for the cameras (the men will always run towards a camera when celebrating.....narcissists!) all make Women's football a more enjoyable experience.

I make no comment about female goalkeepers.

I recently wrote a personal letter to Terry Bramall praising the introduction of the Doncaster Community club strategy and pleading for him to encourage a closer allegiance and support for the Belles .I do not know how he feels about it but I have been referred to Gavin Baldwin on the matter at a meeting early December .
Whatever the stance of Bramall, Baldwin  and Belles, the real catalyst of a full integration of Belles into DRFC and Club Doncaster  will be the attitude of  the real  Community of Donny  . I am really encouraged by the initial reaction to this thread . I too feel the women's game and the Belles  in particular ,( though they are the weaker physically ) have safeguarded the true sporting values of football . We should be proud of Donny Belles and do all we can to help them .  They are an EXCEPTIONAL club that Doncaster should be proud of .

Women's football has evolved so much, with the exception of the GKs. It's so bad it's comical at times, even at the highest levels.
It's something that has always puzzled me.

Yep strange especially since women are the world's  best gymnasts and acrobats.

As manager of women's team AFC Unity, I can agree.

Sorry for the cheap plug ;)

I used to watch Kas Walker and Gill Coulthard amongst others. Went to Bramall lane once as a guest to see them in the FA Cup Final. Those two would still grace the Enegland team. Kas was as brave as a lion, was hard as nails, headed it like a bullet and had a pretty awesome shot on her too. Is she still the leading England goalscorer? She was awesome. Gillian was simply class. More skill than anybody had at Rovers at the time and more than most today. Over 100 caps as an England midfielder.

Does anyone know where Ade Sill is this days? He used to run their website, he was a big fan and he knew a huge amount about them. Haven't seen or heard of him in donkeys though.

Google the FIFA Goal of the Season.  Stephanie Roche from Ireland is on the shortlist of 3 for this award.  It will be announced in January 2015. The other two on the shortlist are Holland's Robin van Persie and Columbia's James Rodriguez.

Check it out.  How I wish one of our players could do that in next 45 minutes!!
