Bad time to concede...
« on March 07, 2015, 06:54:21 pm by GazLaz »
We have conceded plenty this season just before half time. It's a terrible time to concede. I'm not sure the fk The Gills scored from should have been given but even still we shouldn't be putting ourselves in a position where we are at risk of conceding at such an important time.

It's often said that a team is likely to concede when they've just scored themselves . So far be it for Rovers to to put paid that one.! Well jumps .

A mixed bag of results from other P/Off contenders means that we are the masters of our own destiny with many of the other contenders to play.
Personally I would prefer to have these teams to play against rather than those fighting for their very lives i.e. wounded animals.

The task is straight forward , we are playing well now and other teams better look out ... :rtid:

Unfortunately we are not quite masters of our own destiny - we play Bradford again but if we win that and they win both their games in hand they would leapfrog us. Likewise Chesterfield have a game in hand and we don't play them again, so they could finish above us.

Still ridiculously tight, does nobody want that 6th spot?!

Sheff Utd, are in a bad run, they could be dragged into the play off scramble for 5th and 6th places. Their fans are in meltdown over their defeat to Fleetwood at home! They are already talking about missing out of the play offs. Rather be in our position than theirs.

Blades will start to fade off, as will MK Dons.

Well, there's probably no great time to concede but there is a bit of a broad pattern. We do concede in the period running unto HT but our leakiest period in the game is actually in the first 15 mins after KO.

Bit of a slack day on Friday and knocked up quickly the attached little diagram – updated this morning. I'd got the impression we started games a bit sleepily and wanted to either prove or disprove that with some proper facts. Have had to carve the game up into 15min periods – apart from ET, to illustrate the point.

We generally grow stronger in games after a first half where we tend to concede. Of course you can bend the stats to prove almost any point but you can see that we do regularly let in early ones and then gradually get back into games in the second half, finishing quite strongly, scoring and keeping it tight defensively upto full time.

Any time is a bad time to concede..

But I think the worst time is right at the end of the game, or very close to it, simply because there is little or no time left to reply.

It just seems to have been late goals in either half that have cost us this week.

Only if all their other results match or better ours?

Everyone can beat anyone it seems, Bristol lost at Colchester recently.  Coventry could do us a big favour vs Bradford tomorrow.
