How about your wages are cut in half at work and you can get a job somewhere else on the same money.
Are you going to stay where you are?

I wouldn't complain about it if I'd agreed to it

Wellens had a year to run at Leicester when he negotiated his release to join us so will have got a  pay off in respect of contractually agreed future wages due . With us the release clause is less onerous for DRFC and leaves him a free agent to find a job by 31 August.

That's the whole point in agreeing to a get out clause.
You agree to it so you can leave and go somewhere else...if you're good enough.
It works both ways as well - as Copps found out.
Don't understand the anti-Wellens feeling when everyone is chuffed Copps looks like staying.
What's the difference between them?
They were both in the same boat - Copps was offered more and Wellens wasn't.

As I see it there is a BIG difference, JC was out of contract, RW was not.

It's Quinn who's still in the funny position.  Clearly wants to leave, but still no deal anywhere.  Guess you can say that on both Wellens and Quinn.

I know it's fairly unlikely but how do we know he wants to leave? All his tweets could have been aimed at other clubs who had made promises that weren't kept!
He came back late last year but there weren't many, more committed to the cause than he was over the course of the season.
If he's fit enough then get him in on Saturday,

GK A Triallist

Quinn
Jones
McCullough
Evina

Keegan

Copps
De Val/Furman
Forrester

any 2 from Tyson Robinson Main

That doesn't look too bad to me

I agree it looks a lot better than we thought not so long ago. My only reservation is that it is a big ask for Rob Jones to be playing league football 9 days after his all clear.I would still like to see us sign another experienced CB to play alongside McCullough - Clarke would have been perfect.

By all accounts he's as fit as a lop, just not been heading the ball

Raven - I am, just a bit worried about match fitness and reading a game - I hope I am worrying unnecessarily. But then again we always lose at Yeovil so in a way there is nothing much to be lost  :rtid:

Liam Hoden has tweeted that Wellens and Quinn are "both in training but not in plans due to release clauses".

Sounds like a case of hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Find it odd that they're still here so close to the start of the season though - if another club wants them they're leaving it late, even allowing for the transfer window to the end of August surely they'd want their squads finalised asap...?

It's certainly  ironic that the two players who have been most vocal in the media and on twitter are the two struggling to find clubs.

Doh! Yes, If I'd agreed to a large cut in my wages when/if relegation occurs I would not whinge about it if it came to pass.

My anti-Wellens stance is purely down to his unprofessionalism of late which is clearly a desperate mix of "please come and get me" to other clubs and anger at being led up the path by JR over the way things were progressing with the takeover and Wellen's place in the new world.

The only thing I see wrong with these release clauses is the fact they should expire before pre season starts.  Doubt these lads would be moaning about poor wages of they had snapped acls and the club was still paying them. Even on the reduced wages they are likely earning more than most of the people that watch the rovers.
