Dead and Bury'd.

Lucketti sacked.

Shame as he was doing a terrific job of ensuring one relegation place will be filled.

He got all of 7 weeks and 4 days.
What on earth do the expect. Miracles obviously. It’s a joke. Is it April fools day? Oh no it’s not. Some of these owners simply have not got a clue have they.

What a waste of space.

It says on the Bury FC official site that the owners are still hopeful of staying in League One and want someone in quickly to make that happen.
Assuming they need 50 points to stay up (may not be enough given 4 teams go down) and they have only 17 at present from 27 games.  To get a further 33 points from 19 games would need 9 wins, 6 draws and 4 defeats.  That is automatic promotion form over the course of a season, so I'm not sure who is going to take this job on and I'm not sure what planet the owners are on!

Whoever they do get probably won’t be starting next season with them by the sound of it.

If they stay up now that will be one of the all time greatest Houdini acts in the Football league.

33 points or more from 19 games is getting on automatic promotion form.

Can anyone actually think of any examples when a team has been dead and buried but have actually got away with it?

Rotherham before Warnock?

Just checked and they were on 26 points with 13 games to go (only six from safety) and went on an 11 game unbeaten run.

Ended up on 49 points but lost their last two games.

Finished nine clear.

It's worth remembering and not to be negative, but we are only a short distance away from the relegation places so worth bearing that in mind and we still need the points to pull away from there and be more nearer to the top 6.

Relatively short distance in points maybe, but there are a lot of teams between us and the relegation places who would all have to do better than us..

Yes I remember 2015/16 too..

What was our form like in the Championship? Was it 09/10? Bottom at Christmas that season and I'm sure we were top of the form table for a good while after that?

18 points from the first 24 games, then 40 points from the last 22 games.

Again, promotion form.

I don't think we were ever 11 adrift from safety that season like Bury are now, though I stand to be corrected.

Here’s a stat for you.
At Bury’s present point accumulation average 0.46 a game, they are already down.
They will only reach 29 points.

The only one that ever springs to my mind (partly as we were clost to the action at the time!) would be Brighton in 96/97 when they appointed Steve Gritt. Dead and gone then stayed up at Hereford's expense. No idea of the stats of that turnaround though and what kind of form they went on.

The commentators on BBC were also raving about Newport's escape act last year. Think they won 8 of 12 to stay up?

Not necessarily a points gap, but didn't Leicester win about 7 of 9 last games to stay in the premier league, and then look what happened!

could say UNLucketti sacked.

red adair relegation fighter graham wesley would have been a prime candidate but Barnet nicked him yesterday ...    Dickov anyone ??   personally i think this is about the level for "ryman giigs" he had to be "allegedly" "eased" out of his "former club" with "dignity"

Newport's a good one actually. Think they were 12 points off safety when Westley was sacked, or something like that.

Hartlepool, who got relegated at Newport's expense, have also had quite a few escapes and re-elections in years gone by.

What a surprise that Bury won yesterday as well.

The 'sack the manager and win a game bounce' is very much still alive and kicking.
