To be fair Philsky, they are merely linking to someone else's computer predictions which the DFP has done regularly all season. The predictions have regularly underestimated us and frustration is better directed at prediction creators. IMHO DFP Rovers coverage is recently very much improved, beyond recognition even.

Granted, but a quick proof read would reveal we’re already on 70 points.

You are right of course. I have seen this prediction before (we were on 67 points at the time and I thought it very negative), so DFP has put it out twice. Someone messed up this time.

We are told that there was a time when people believed what was in the newspapers and then later people thought that computers had all the answers. Now, not just those we might have classed as “intelligent” people are profoundly sceptical about what computers reveal.

You would have thought that AI would be harnessed to this grand task of predicting football outcomes, but I haven’t come across anything as explicitly attributing outcomes as the result of those processes yet. No doubt the newspapers will catch up eventually…

Some observations

a) A 'supercomputer' to predict one game (a highly volatile end of season game at that) - this is not a scenario you would use a supercomputer in.
b) Very happy to finish anywhere in the play-offs
c) Did the freepress really drag out a league table prediction over 6 pages?

It's purely clickbait with as much computing power as an abacus.

I jokingly replied to their Facebook post suggesting they bin the Supercomputer for one that's not wrong 100% of the time.

But of course  they win because I clicked on the article to be confronted by a host of adverts.

Has this been updated as when I clicked link it says 7th for us with Barrow lol in 8th with Bradford lol presumably lower.

I stopped reading at Barrow but am I missing something if we are 8th ?

Hi all. Ricky here.
I can understand the frustration from some at the supercomputer articles but I don't think you'll be shocked or surprised that it is regularly near the top of our most-read stories. Having said that, I personally do not write them and these pieces are done for other centres and titles within our group. Most of the time it is to populate the Rovers section for the days when I am off.

I'm not daft enough to think that we can please everyone but I feel like we've made good inroads in terms of expanding our coverage - both online and on our social channels - and fingers crossed there is plenty to go at these next few weeks! Hopefully see a few of you down at Gillingham!

Cheers,

Bookies odds of 1-50 for us to make the playoffs would suggest that the super computer might have blown a gasket somewhere.

I think they must have updated the link - I am now seeing 7th with 70 as well.

Just a comment - I’ve been really critical about Rovers coverage in the past. It has improved massively since Ricky took over. That said I detest the DFP website lol

Completely agree about the website, its awful to navigate without pop us ruining the experience.
I appreciate that there is a work around, but it shouldnt be necessary.
