Title: Here’s an idea...
Post by: PDX_Rover on February 19, 2020, 04:06:30 pm
Just thinking about fan involvement and had an idea about the pre-match music. How about fans put together Spotify playlists around 30 minutes in length and one is selected and played at each home game. Obviously there are some caveats - no foul language, offensive material etc.

I bet no other club is doing this. And there could be a short piece in the programme with the curator as to why they chose the tracks that they did...

Might be a fun thing?

With a Rovers related rationale for each track?

A sort of Donny Island Discs?

And a luxury item to be taken to each game.......?

The guy who does the pre-match for Luton shares his play list on Twitter (and spotify I think). Always thought that was a good idea. He plays some good tunes too when Ive seen it. Good mix of new up-and-coming bands and the usual staples.

It's been done a few times at other clubs.

Christ almighty, I pity the attendees if mine was chosen.

Simple Minds: This Fear of God's
Sleaford Mods: My Jampandy
Cabaret Voltaire: Nag Nag Nag
Front 242: Religion
Spacemen 3: Big City
Pixies: Crackity Jones
UNKLE: Eye for an Eye

And finally, have the Rovers run out to Laibach: Tanz Mit.

Be lucky if there was 300 left in the ground by kick off.

Ha! Nice one Bill. Cabs is a good call with a bit of a South Yorks connection. Always thought Celia Ann–Pixies would be a great bit of instrumental racket to come on to.

Way the atmosphere is going at Keepmoat- the Simon and Garfunkel song sounds of silence by (to be contemporary) Disturbed? (I'll get my coat now!)

We tried it before too - kinda worked well for a while - music choices need to be within specific frequencies/decibels/keys to play well through the system tho.

What about playing something that the sound system can cope with without spoiling the original sound too much. Maybe 'When I'm Cleaning Windows' by George Formby?

Are Ronnie Hylton and Dickie Valentine still in the charts?
