Cant wait.
5 mile drive for me.
-
We are goging down to the smoke, seven of us going and making a weekend of it.
-
4 of us on the train!. First visit too so another ticked off the list!..
-
3 of us on the train for the weekend, celebrating the lads 21st. Hopefully all the ingredients for a cracking weekend.
-
5 of us going on the train. Love a London away day.
-
Really looking forward to it. I'm London based but wasn't able to make it to Luton or Stevenage, this one is locked in.
Spending this morning putting the finer touches to a Jubilee Line pub crawl with a Spurs fan who has suddenly decided Barnet are his second team now that we are coming to town...
-
Likewise Philsky – about 15 miles for me.
Apart from Orient closest away game and one for the tube and couple of pints beforehand...
-
About 12 of us on the train and a new ground to tick off
-
8 of us going on the train. New ground to tick off too. Love a London away day
-
I'll be in attendance.
Does anyone know if Underhill is still standing? Was hoping to have a mooch over before the game.

I think it is. I think it is used as a training base by one of the London Rugby clubs.
-
I'm gutted that I can't go with it being our Gert's birthday. Sounds like there'll be a large contingent of Rovers on the train and round London on the piss which always makes for a great day out.
-
I'M going too. Reckon it'll be a big following this one.
-
They've given us 800 tickets, and I think we'll take that many with the new ground syndrome, top of the league and last nights performance.
-
Cant wait.
5 mile drive for me.
Philsky,
You lucky boy, it will take me all of 20mins. The last time I was there I watched the Bells in very bright sun light. I think Bob was sitting behind me at that game.

If you live so near it's no wonder they are in the bottom division, going on some of our results your influence has had over the years.😉
-
What time train or trains is everyone catching next week ? South and North ?
-
7:27 from Darlington for 2 of us :scarf:
-
8.38 out of donny
-
6.32 out of Donny 3 of us, anyone heading anywhere specific? Would be brilliant to have a boozer full of rovers down in London with the drinks flowing and atmosphere building, proper top of the league stuff
-
The 3 day strike by southern trains won't affect us will it?
-

No, unless you plan to go south of the river.
-
We usually head to Leicester Square for a few
-
0813 out of Donny
-
Should be a good contest, Barnet are only 6 off 4th placed Portsmouth whom they have beaten twice. Barnets manager left them in early December to manage Eastleigh a National League side.
-
Early weather forecast for next weekend is rubbish.
-
Good job were not off for a sun tan then ;)
-
This will sell out perhaps?
-
Just checked ground guide and it looks like away fans are now housed in the new all seat north stand which accommodates 1890 so plenty of room.
-
I didn't know Barnet had a new ground. The old one was not a bad little place.

London Broncos use it as training ground.
I used to love going to Underhill to see Rovers, when I lived in London.
-
I was out of date. The Broncos have moved out now and Underhill is going to be demolished to make way for a school.

I don't know whether the demolition work has started yet.
Update. Doesn't look like it. Might be worth a look while it is still standing.

5 of us going 10.30 from Donny. Euston Flyer for me. Fullers ESB, expensive but terrific yum! Probably back there after the match or the Post Sorting Office thingy in KX upstairs before the 6.30 back up.
-
Working in London unfortunately means I come bCk up to Doncaster on a Friday evening and thus have no interest returning bCk down on the Saturday. A shame as I'm sure it will be a good game.
-
We have a spare bed ?

Cheers for the offer. Have family. Commitments Saturday now. Sounds like plenty are going though.
-
Do we really think this will sell out? Does anyone fancy getting me a ticket and meeting me there? Worried I am going to get there and no tickets!
-
I hope tickets will be available on the day as it will be a last minute call for me.
-

Yup, that what I do for most away matches - Notts County and Mansfield most recently and will do this for Barnet.
-
me and 2 more going

Hi,
Barnet fan in Peace.
The away end holds 1800 but also there is a section of 700 seats in the west stand held in reserve. You are almost certainly going to be able to pay on the day.
Safe trip. If you are looking for decent free parking within 5-10 min walk then use postcode HA7 1JR to get to a non residential slip road on honeypot lane with plenty of parking.

Got married on Saturday.
The honeymoon is a trip round Britain doing shows, fine dining, thames cruise etc...
We are in London Saturday and whos playing there then?!
The new wife is off to watch the Rovers on her honeymoon
The miserable female will be with me :rtid:

Great, thanks for the update Red Baron. Will add to the hitlist for Saturday.

According to maps its 17 mins drive, 54 mins by tube and 2 hours walk between the two grounds or else I'd have done the same.

Brilliant, hope it's a win to mark the occasion!
I have a hard enough time getting my girlfriend to a home game in spring so the chances of me whisking her off to the Rovers on honeymoon seems a distant dream.

That's a familiar street name.
I've seen it countless times over the years as I'm sure have most of us... On hand dryers in public bogs. I assume it's the same Honeypot Lane.
-
Why not hit the famed 'coal hole?' I'm sure I walked past it (or a pub with that name) last time I was down there!
I think it was on the strand! Not sure how far away from Barnet it is though!
-
Blimey Al – drinking at the Coal Hole before the Barnet game would be a bit like supping in Rotherham before a game at the Keepmoat. Its very fine on Strand and a cut above Rotherham but a fair old distance to the game.
Barnet used to be alright for a pre pint when at Underhill but they've moved quite a way down into suburban London and in that bit where they just didnt build pubs. Long A roads, little stands of shops, but not much cop for boozers. I reckon it'll need a bit of exploration further afield to find a handy watering hole but the Coal Holes a bridge too far mate.
-
Ive had some good nights in the coal hole, yes its on the strand, dont have their buy one get one free 5 rum cocktail, if you want to see the match.
-
Should be able to get a few drinks around the Green park tube and jump on the Jubilee line up to Cannons Park , that is if there not on strike again
-
Fair enough acacia! Good point well made! Lol
-
I'd recommend going somewhere like Baker St or West Hampstead rather than Green Park. Green Park is basically Mayfair and although there are some great restaurants and high end bars it's not really a place for pre-football boozing.
You can get a train from St Pancras to West Hampstead in about 15 mins, and a tube to Baker St in about 25 minutes, and there are a lot of pubs around both of them. Both are on the jubilee line so can get to Queensbury/Cannons Park within 15-20 mins.
-
If you like "proper" pubs / CAMRA / traditional pubs I've been recommended these;
Near green park tube - Ye Grapes, the Red Lion (off Pal Mall) , the Golden Lion, and another Red lion (off Jermyn st) - the last 3 are within 200yds of each other!
Near baker St is the Barley Mow (plus the big spoons but I don't count that)
-

Or if you want to keep up repayments on your mortgage, judging by my one & only visit in the summer.
-
The old classic pre England games pub is the The Globe opposite Baker Street tube. Its not 'next to the ground handy' but suburban North West London's a bit of a desert for pubs. Jubilee Line direct from Baker Street to Canons Park 20mins.

Moranos looks like the nearest pub to the ground from Cannons park tube station, a recommendation from someone going to watch Barnet as an away fan.

Buckley's Bar past the ground from the tube station seems more Rovers appropriate though.

500 sold I've been told
-
Going to get 2 tickets tomorrow
-
Another Bees fan here, I see some of you are discussing where to have a pre match drink. There is a bar for away supporters under the new stand. Hope you all have a good trip. Honeypot lane has plenty of parking if you don't want to pay the five pound for parking in the ground. If you do park at the ground get a token before the game either from the club shop or the bar

Just to say we had a great honeymoon and this Rovers performance helped to make it.
Went in Barnet bar before game, great food, drink and banter with their fans.
The coldest away bar Ive ever been in with even worse service.
But easy by tube and I think the new Mrs half enjoyed it,well more than I enjoyed Mary Poppins!!

One of the stewards told me on Saturday that it was just the 4th time that the away end had been used at the Hive.
I'm really surprised that they have been granted a safety certificate for its use.
Whilst the stand "pitch side" is completed and is excellent, the concourse below is still work in progress. There were no fire alarms and virtually no lighting (cabling in place but coiled up and not connected). Before the game it was daylight and later on it relied on overspill from the external lights.
Gotta also say I was very surprised that there were opening windows in the concourse that opened out onto the training pitches. I'm sure that any resourceful fan without a ticket could gain entry through them with a little assistance from fellow fans inside (particularly iattractive if sold out).
Overall though it's a decent ground for league 2 even if the main stand is a bit strange.
