Team of 2008/2013
« on April 30, 2013, 06:25:42 pm by Chris »
The two different teams which won promotion from League One in 2008 and this season possessed very different strengths and weaknesses. That got me wondering about who would make a Rovers 2008/2013 starting line-up. This is purely for a bit of fun and I think it will be very interesting to see which combinations people come up with.

Mine would be:
Neil Sullivan; Spurr, Jones, Mills, Quinn; Stock, Wellens; Coppinger, Cotterill; Brown, Hume.

That means three from 2008, six from this season and two who featured in both campaigns. Some very big players left out too!

Wouldn't disagree too much with that team. Maybe Heffernan along with Brown, but then you're lacking a bit of pace. Either way, that's a team fit for the Championship if all the players were in their primes. Wouldn't fear many teams with that line up.

I think Hume is great .. but I would have to put Paul Green in that  team ahead of him.

All about opinions, but I would put the Jimmy O'Connor of 2008 (not the version of 2011-12) ahead of Paul Quinn, and maybe the Hayter of 2008 ahead of Hume based on better finishing

Close calls though

And Gareth Roberts. Proper full back.

If you could combine Gareth Roberts and Tommy Spurr, you'd have one hell of a full-back.

I think that the team of 2008 was a better team in all departments

Might have honest on the bench

this is a difficult on but would pretty much agree with the op. However the 2008 team had a better style of football to watch whilst the 2013 team works harder for each other and has a never say die attitude. imho
