He must really kick on next year, break into the first team or he's done with the rovers. Honestly can see him struggling to make the first team next season though.

It's tough being a pro footballer. There's nothing given. As you say, the first thing is to wish him a clear run with injuries together with a good preseason.  Then it's up to him to perform and be as professional as he can when he gets the opportunities. If by the end of thecsummer transfer window, he's not getting the game time, a half season loan might be better for his development. He just needs games.

He's got a big challenge getting in, but if he doesn't he needs a good loan.  We've a lot of depth at centre half for sure.

He is exactly the type we need to hold onto, the club is a business and he is an assett. It isn't only about him making first team next year it's about being a saleable assett.

Perfect example is Matty Craig. 21, gets 3yr contract at Spurs. Do you think he is going to be breaking into spurs first team next year chasing Premier league position and champions league?......NO, but they know he is worth signing up still.

It isn't always about busting into the first team!

Personally I think with the right coaching faulkner could go a long way in the game, people say he isn't a footballer so won't make it, but there is plenty at the top that aren't what I would call footballers, Tarkowski has been there for a few years and isn't a ball player. John Terry wasn't a ball player, just a top full blooded defender.

Manchester United and Everton both had a look at him this season I think from memory?

For a low cost this kid is worth signing up and is a perfect example of why we NEED a development/u23 team.

A loan to a conference team would be good for him. For a full season.

Delighted with this. A full season on loan is too long in my opinion but maybe something shorter.

In the very few games he’s played IMO he’s the Only CB to look totally committed and decent with a goal or two without Wood next to him.
Put him in with Wood….. hmmmmmm.

He has to aim to get in the team, that means hitting the straps and being fully fit for pre season and playing well enough to get in the side by right and showing up better than the others vying for a starting place, and he is well up for it.
He knows nothing is a given, and other teams have been watching the position with his contract, The Rovers have done the right thing taking up the option he would have gone for nothing and higher.

Him and Flint should really look to learn and impress in pre-season. They could both have decent careers if they work hard and learn from the senior pros like Wood and Ironside.
