One year deal.

-
We've found the pen!
-
Didn't want him but after reports from everyoe yesterday he could end up being a good signing!
-
Oh my god! Just nearly fell off my office chair. We've signed someone :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
-
Last time in league one we started with Brown and Paynter upfront. This time it looks like it could be Robinson and Tyson. Very different approach. I would say we still need one more striker who offers something different to the pace we have now got.
-
Good signing that.... 0 goals in 34 games last year not bad for a striker ?? Suppose FILO and hisob think it's a great signing

Not saying he's ready at all but maybe Dickov sees that being Peterson?
-
Or perhaps Main who we are told is a strong player with a good work ethic but doesn't score many.

Why not try and give the guy a chance ffs.
-
I am sorry but Peterson is never going to be good enough to play for us he carnt shoot, carnt head, not strong enough to hold the ball up, carnt link play up. I wish the lad well but I've see a lot of him over the last 2 years and he's conference north level at best.
-
two players mentioned in this thread two players demotivated .. hoe they never read the forum.

Why do that when we could just slate everything the club do at every turn then scuttle off when things are going well. :silly:
-

If they do, they should be able to spot the negative posters a mile off.... Players should ignore criticism like that anyway, and do their talking on the pitch.
-
I think its a good signing. Been a little unlucky with injuries if wikipedia is to be believed but none the less a good signing. Add Evina and Coppinger to that with hopeful news on Rob Jones and everything looks a little better.
-

Sorry Retdon but had you been old enough to have seen Brian Deane play for Rovers and then go on to be an England International (When we actually won games!) you would have thought he was dogshit as well.....................He was actually :) but what do we know?
Lets wait and see eh?
-
Agreed Wellred Deane was worse than hopeless for us and yet look what he did.

Good for the pub quiz, Brian Deane scored the first ever premiership goal.

I am not saying he's dog shit, just that he's not up to this level. I've watched him for the youth, reserves and first team over the last few years and in my opinion he's no where near the standard for league football. He's a nice lad and I hope he proves me wrong but got a feeling he will be playing for someone like Gainsborough trinity next season
-
I'm just wondering - we were apparently moving away from 1 year deals. Does this only apply to younger players?
-
Peterson also signed up for another year.
Again - why just a year?
-
It's the eleventh hour as far as preseason is concerned, if the choice is getting him for a year or not getting him at all - I think we've seen their choice.
He's no mug, he knows that if he has a good season with us then a bigger club will come in for him when he's free in a years time.
...he's probably quite hurt that Barnsley haven't come in for him already though.
-
So are we on plan C now then?
-
Should both help us consolidate our position in this league for another year!! All we can hope for after the preseason we have had!!
-
So are we on plan C now then?
Wouldn't have thought so, but considering people have been complaining that you can't invoke a system, as introduced by the club, overnight, it seems there'll always be something to find issue with.
-
I don't think people are just simply looking to criticise anything. People are being shot down, but if you look at the facts, Tyson hasn't registered double figures in a season for 9 years, and hasn't scored at all in the past two seasons.
Of course he'll be given a chance, but it's not exactly a signing that gets you off your seat, if we're being realistic about things. The guy is 32 and it seems like his best years are way behind him.
-
Some people complaining about the offer of three years for Copps earlier this week then complaining because we only offered a 32 year old a one year contract :chair:
-
For a 32 year old based on what others have said hes pretty bloody pacey
Odds for Tyson to break his scoring drought against Yeovil?
-
Be about 5/1 first scorer
-

I took the "plan C" comment to be more about the length of contract rather than the player attached to the contract. Given that some are looking for an excuse to complain at the slightest thing, I think it's not unlikely that others with have a differing of opinion. If that differing of opinion is what you call being "shot down" then I wonder how you cope with any form of disagreement!

Some people! Our 'fans' amaze me in all the wrong ways at times!
Welcome to the Keepmoat, Nathan Tyson.
:scarf:
-
Our fans amaze me FFS.
Have you seen his score rate, jesus, hes a bag o w**k.
We want a scorer not a long distance runner, christ lewis guy the 2nd.
-
Simple fact for the idiots and arse lickers.... Strikers score goals... This guy hasn't scored once in 34 games.. To all those what say welcome to Donny etc are you wired up right?? For what he's on at 32 and clearly past his sell by date I'd rather take a punt on a young lad who's bagged 20-30 in non league and let dickov show him the ropes
-
Yes Raggytash and supporters support .

Ah, so we shouldn't support him then. Gotcha. :aok:
-
An interesting signing, and one which could go either way. Certainly looks as if Dickov is looking to pace and speed this coming season, so Tyson, even at 32, could prove an handful at L1 level in a starter/sub impact role, wherein he rarely plays the full 90.
Particularly recall Tyson from a Rovers game almost eight years ago. As an exile, see only a handful of live games now, but was present at the emotional last game at BV in 2006. Many, many memories of that day, and one in particular sticks out.
Our opponents, Forest, dominated for long spells that December afternoon, and Tyson repeatedly skipped through our defence at will - granted he was just a snip of a boy at 24 then.
On one occasion he bore down on goal, and seemed certain to score until Ben Smith made an amazing save. Thought Smith would go on to bigger things, but recall he was vulnerable to long range shots!
Anyway, welcome to DRFC Nathan -- and as a Reading-born boy, and an ex Royals player, you owe us some good times. Over the years Reading FC have caused us so much pain -- I don't think any other team in the FL as such a bad record against any other team as Rovers do against Reading.
Your hometown club are truly a jinx, Nathan, so please help rip open those L1 defences apart for us this coming season!
-
Since when did I say I wouldn't support the bloke? I hope he scores 20 plus but as usual facts are not believed by the militant vsc, do you honestly think a promotion chasing team in ANY league would sign a striker with no goals in 34 games????
-
Yeah but were not a promotion chasing team Raggytash, we are a team that imo will be looking to just secure their League 1 status and Tyson will definitely help with that!!
-
What was Paynters scoring recent scoring record when we signed him?
-
Yes Raggytash and supporters support .
They also come to a majority of games and watch the team.
-
So, you're saying if someone can't afford to go to the majority of games, they're not a real supporter? Okay then.
-

I never said that, but get fed up of posters or supporters being told what,j they should do, when certain posters support most of the time from behind a key board.
-
For your knowledge Steve I missed 7 games last year I know I might piss people off but I like to tell it how I see it mate, sometimes I'm wrong in the tone I take, but I don't talk balls or arselick, I just say it how I see it
-
Brown was hardly prolific...

I was never referring to you, like you I missed 3 home games last year. I class my self like you a supporter that also watches my team. Do not like the inference from others about supporting my side or going to support other teams when they do not agree what is said.
-

Hello, what happened to that chat then?
-
Will he be the next Robbie Blake then or more of a Leo Fortune west. Can go either way these older signings, either click or fall away. Let's hope he clicks with a settled home.
-
He will score over 10. Brown would of only got 10 maybe a few more. Just needs to keep fit. Alot of those app with no goals won't be starts. He's had long spells out injured as well. Lets give him a chance and on Sats showing i'm sure most fans will be supprised by him.
-
It certainly looks like we're going for pace up top, Tyson, Robinson, Bennet and Forrester are all quick, we need the centre forward battering ram now for a bit of variation
-

As per the world cup we need a false number 9

As above. Alford was a false number 9. The fat fooker wore number 9 but you'd never have known he was meant to be playing up front. Couldn't get any more false than that.
-
I'm quite looking forward to him and the rest of the speedsters we have . This could work out quite well. Sometimes you just don't fit in to how other clubs are playing eg sharp for us last season. So we maybe the perfect match for him. Only time will tell.

what a stupid quote, give the lad a chance, he will score more goals than BS dis last season

Anytime FILO I'm a straight down the line bloke who doesn't arselick and think there jr or bramall or who ever... I'm a Donny fan and straight to the point if it offends the minority so be it!! I've nothing against anyone but don't get personnel like a little kid if you can't bk it up

Talking, or should I say grunting, with a Forest fan in the pub tonight and he wished us the best with him ................ if his hamstring holds up and his back holds up !

I think you've missed one appointment already
-
I think it's safe to say his best years are behind him. However, he does bring experience and an eye for goal. I suppose it depends on how and where Dickov plays him.

Personal? It was you that offered the " chat" I asked for an appointment time, you failed to give me one, and now you try and turn it around and try to insinuate that I'm the mouthy one, you failed to back up your "challenge" not me!

I'm quivering in my boots Lol!
A bit silly to be offering to have a chat when you know you're at work isn't it?
I'll be thanking God in my prayers tonight for granting me a few more days in this mortal realm and allowing me to watch the Port Vale game unthreatened :)

What did you reckon to how he played yesterday against Weds then raggytash?
-
Thing is FILO I don't speak to people like there nothing.. Unfortunately you and a couple of your side kicks are rather feeble excuses of men. If you've got anything to say to me or other users in abusive manners, let's see you face to face

I know how to rescue this.
What does everybody think of Dean Saunders?

Raggytash does have a point there FILO ,about ganging up when you don't agree with it .. Even though the 15000 post you put have put on are right

Back on topic, good to see us making signings. Open minded about Tyson.
His 1 year deal makes a mockery of recent statements again though.
-

Not really because he is 32. The 3 year contract plan was for the younger ones. Signing Peterson and Middleton on 1 year deals is a mockery

Is that taxista?
-
I think it is a good signing. But after the statement VSC put out about no more 1year contracts, and building on youth. then we sell husband . Some things just don't add up.
-
If Main signs that will be 4 strikers that cant score great just like Rovers as usual
-

What statement?
-
Tyson is on a conditional 2 year deal. He gets the 2nd year based on appearances. Prove he is fit to play, I guess.
-
Good deal all round. He may not have a goal scoring knack but at least he had the nounce to bring a pen to training. Next year we should be sponsored by Bic.
-
Actually, there's a point. Maybe Dave Parker has the pen.
Parker....pen...gerrit.
-
Billy Sharpie?
-

We had players who can score goals last season in Sharp and Macheda yet we still couldn't score for shit due to Dickov’s style. We finished as 2nd lowest scorers. Either way good record or bad record we won't score many.
-
Could he be the striker with most appearances against us without a goal? I'm just going from memory but I'm sure he's never scored against us. Must have played 10 times as well.
-

I couldn't agree more- its because the decent strikers have either been snapped up or are too greedy and we haven't got the dish :((
-

I might be wrong, but did he not score for Forest against us at Belle Vue?

Maybe, I can't remember it though.
-
No, that was Pierre Van Hooydonk (shudder)
-
Tyson looks beefier than he was in his younger days. Those who saw him on Sunday will have seen he uses his strength to get between man and ball and, putting it in modern terms, induces the fowl.
He's still blessed with a bit of pace and he could prove to have a bit of the Chris Brown in him.
When I say beefier, I don't mean fat either, as he does look toned up. By comparison he contributed more in the game than Robinson. Could be a very good signing.
-
Never mind the beef, what about the fowl is it chicken or Turkey :chair:
-
Used to call him Grass Legs when I was at uni in Nottingham, very skinny, that said if he's half as quick as he was then he could do a job. I'm all for giving him a chance, welcome to Doncaster Not So Grass Legs!
-
BEEFY he looks as thin as a lat on the pitch
-
Couldn't care less what they've done elsewhere. Brown had hardly scored for anyone when we signed him, he turned out ok, sharp had a terrible record at the club where we signed him from.
It's totally irrelevant what they have of haven't done elsewhere
-
He looked like fat when he came on at Bloomfield Road last season.
-
But he isnt now. Give the lad a chance, he plays for OUR team
-
He looks a bit like Dr Dre
-
We could go for players with excellent scoring records - Carl Alford or Justin Jackson anyone?

Just listened to his interview, very refreshing. Every other interview seems to be quite clichéd and samey.

a very motivational experience for Players to come on here .
