It's a shame his career with us ended the way it did but there's not many players who had a career like his with quite a few promotions in there.

Next up, someone who is remembered for one particular goal but actually had a very impressive record with us, considering he was a workhorse type of forward...

James Hayter of course.

640 league appearances and 162 goals having played for only 3 clubs.

One of those players who never gave less than 100% but had ability to go with it.

What a player, one of my all-time favourite Rovers and not at all just because of that goal at Wembley.

His most impressive header for us was away at Watford. He leaped far higher than he had any right to considering his height, on the edge of the box, and bulleted a very strong header past the keeper, over several defenders. Not many could do what he did there.

Completely agree. One of those rare footballers who defy gravity and are brave with it. He was a great character, never moaned, never retaliated just did his best everytime. Worth ever penny and more.

Absolutely correct.

He made 178 of those appearances for us - one less than Adam Lockwood.

Correct.

He racked up 160 appearances in total and in the first year or so we signed him, he was probably the best striker we'd had for years.

It's a shame that when we got higher, he didn't quite fit into SO'D's plans as he was an out and out goal grabber, no doubts.

Correct. Stocky made 216 appearances in total.

Not sure on the shirt, given the season we had it for, but on that basis here's another player modelling it...

He ended up making 164 for us despite a slow start to his career when he spent plenty of time out on loan and didn't make too much of an impression. I think he bagged one of his own goals in the infamous Boxing Day massacre at Forest which got Calderwood the sack!

Next up, someone who made 234 appearances after we rejoined the league before moving on and forging a good career. elsewhere..
