Northampton were in a bit of a mess long before he got there.

They certainly were. But he didn’t exactly turn it around despite being backed to bring in players.

I’m not convinced by him. Granted we could do worse (he’d be preferable to Lee Clark for example) but from 150 applicants I’d hope he’s not the best option we have. His managerial career has been going the wrong way after a good start - some would argue helped by a squad put together by Nigel Clough.

It's interesting to think why having some success in Scotland is seemingly valued over and above having some success in England. I would have thought the former was a lot, lot easier.
