For a bit of fun next season, me and my mate are going to rate every pie out of 10, and produce a best pie table at the end of the season.
So what's the best and worst pies you lot have the pleasure of eating at matches.
Il start it of with the quality balti at Walsall this season, and the worst by far being the awful pie at Leeds last year.
-
bradford park avenue for best pie and peas during a pre season friendly a few years back. worst prob bristol city a couple of years back
-
I know we're supposed to be getting some good grub in for next season, but our pies this season are total and utter shite. 0 out of 10. Cold, soggy, tasteless, unidentifiable content, nasty, served by mentally, and physically, impaired robots, scarily expensive. I haven't bothered to check but I bet their nutritional value is negative too.
Take a trip to Aggborough. Theirs have been fab for years.

Any club without a chicken balti pie needs investigating.
I hope our new suppliers will have this to save further embarrassment.

Bob,
got to disagree with you on the pies, for the past couple of games they have changed and have been very nice (Steak and Ale).
Prior to that they were awful though.
-
Unfortunately Kidderminster was always one of the games that I seemed to miss for different reasons every year. Although my mate always bangs on about how good they are, to the point of returning for seconds.
-
Perhaps I'm letting my bitterness get the better of me Stockton. I really chuffing hate (HATE!) being ripped off shed loads for utter shit. It reminds me I'm not a customer, or a supporter. I'm a walking talking wallet to be emptied as soon as bloody possible. Thank God for Martin and IRWT.
And great link Stu. Love that!
Cheers

Seem to remember the pies at the Amex were good last season. Made locally too I think
-
Didn't have one when we went there Ghost but I've got several Seagull supporting mates and they all do go on about how good the grub, and the beer, are.

-
There bloody expensive though Bob. £7.50 pie & pint job I think
-
Ah. That's probably why I didn't have one then!
At that price the beer would have to come with added bubbles and be pale coloured, and the pie would have to come wrapped in gold leaf.
Lol.
Oh, and Stu, really love Selby Town's chips, mushy peas and mint source option. The write up is great. Must try that one.

Rochdale pie and peas were top notch back in early 90s

Pie n Peas would be a good shout provided we could come up with reasonable quality.

Strange that because we've had 3 makes of pies this season.
We kicked off with the same 'potato and meat pie' as we had last season (the ones that you could suck the entire contents out with a straw!)
Then to be replaced by the ones in a nice presentation box, supposedly tasted at a fans event. The content this time was better, still on the sloppy side but definitely had lumps in the shape of meat however, the pastry was a bit dodgy.
Then more recently, after the demise of Spotless, and the new catering firm coming in, we got the current version. The one with the very, very, very flaky pastry although the content is the better of the three.
Bury had a very nice Steak and Ale pie and Rotherham serve the trusted Pukka Pie.
Fed up of hearing "They won't be cheaper but we'll give you better quality". Yeah, right. In other words..You are a football fan and we'll charge you as much as we can for the least amount of quality.
It would be nice if we could offer up something good and local that we can enjoy. Believe it or not, the catering guy at the last fans event said that they had tried Toppings Pies but fans reported them as being too salty !!
Come on let's have home made Meat n Tatie pie, with the option of mushy peas and gravy (or mint sauce)! That'll put the wind up 'em.
Have to say though the potted pies served in the Belle Vue Bar are excellent.
Perhaps we can have a word with this relatively new Donny Pie man http://www.yorkshirepie.com/

Pie and peas at the cricket club next door to burnley ground first class plus easy parking. First class.

All balti pies = 0/10
Just the smell of them makes me want to heave.
-
Was it Oldham with the Shepherds pie? now that was nice!
-
They were known as scouse pies back in the very early
1980s,could be bought at BV.
They had a type Of whole in the pastry at the top and from what i recall Seemed to taste Much Of pepper.
God knows why we called them scouse pies
-
The filling was most probably scouse
-
best pie huddersfield a few years back
worst bristol rovers
-
Huddersfield do a good pie. Going back a few seasons here, but i'm pretty sure they are pukka. Lovely stuff!
-
Me and my brother did a similar survey in our second season in the Championship - only steak pies though (or variations of steak, steak & ale etc..), can't abide those fake curry things! We found the Reading ones were the best and Watford were by far the worst, totally inedible!
The pot pies in the BV bar are class though, up there with Reading!

kovo92 - Why not setup a blogger or tumbler account for it, it could have some mileage and be cool.

Outrageous comments.

+1
I was going to post the same, they were legendary.
-
Balti pies - curry and pastry shouldn't be mixed.
Can't go wrong with Pukka Pies, they should be made compulsory at all football grounds, although Brighton's were pretty good apart from the price.
-
Best. Wrexham, early 90s. I had three at one match. I'm sure they put cocaine in them or something. Addictive.
Worst. Huddersfield the last time were in L1. Meat and potato looked to be filled with gray mud. Vile.
-
Not a pie but the best ever food at a football ground without question is the faggots, chips, mushy peas and gravy served at Burton Albion. Legendary, and only about three quid if I remember right.
-
Anybody tried the cow pie at the doncaster knights?
First class!
