The cheapest at the moment is £20 return if you're not fussy about early starts. Have a look on nationalrail.co.uk.

Unfortunately I don't think any of the websites will be making the trip to Preston ;)

In all seriousness Trainline.com isn't a bad one either.

i've not looked at the train as yet, waiting on details from the supporters club to see about the coachtimes and prices.

If you go on trans pennine express, they are doing Manchester to Blackpool singles for £5. Then just get a Doncaster to Manc.Piccadilly return. Should be looking about 26.50 total. Use east coast trains for booking Donny to Manc.Pic.

Trainline is always a bit more expensive, like a price comparison site but they add their bit on end, and there is a booking fee.

East Coast trains are better.

I wouldn't recommend travelling by train, can be quite expensive and the bus is usually a cheaper option and delays are very regular which means you could miss your connection in Manchester. (happened to me numerous times) The train station is also a fair walk away from deepdale.

Always use the website of the operator of the train if possible, as they are invariably the cheapest for their own trains. If there are two operators, check both their websites.

You can't spend much time traversing the M62.  I spend most of the week on it. Even on a Saturday there's a chance you'll get delayed on it and it's almost guaranteed if it's raining...

The trains not expensive if you book early and leave plenty of time.  I do the opposite trip (Manchester to Donny) for home games and have never had a problem.  Note even paying on the day it's £14ish manc to donny return and about £8ish to Preston return and much cheaper if you book well in advance... so it's hardly bank busting.

have checked the prices of the coach from last season and it was £14 for adults, £12 for kids, but if a member of the supporters club it was £12 and £10, costs a £5 to become a member and get discount from each coach trip so aslong as you get the coach 3 times you make your money back

break your journey up with yer train tickets

you can do this over the counter at donny train station, the
staff at the counter and joe public stood behind ypou in que will be well gutted but knackkers to them

get a day return from donc to sheff
then a day return from sheff to stockport
as above stockport to manc pic

manc victoria to next town
and so on.

you will end with a pocket full of train tickets but it should be much cheaper.

all the ddr used to do it when on away jaunts back in conf days
