Our recruitment from Jan 2021 to Jan 2022.

Christ on a bike, if someone had infiltrated us as an enemy agent they couldn't have done a better job of screwing us over.

The recruitment is still poor. Absolute screams guess work and finding a name and building a positive narrative to convince themselves they are good to me.

The nice, honest, northern white lad approach isn’t working.
That last paragraph GazLaz  ???   Would you like to explain that one.

Kind of feels like they are trying to build a team of players of a similar demographic in an attempt to build a team of people that will get on.

Genuine question Gaz - I note you've posted previously that you've met with Copps and have presumably discussed your ideas around recruitment. Are you able to shed any light on that at all? i.e. whether there was any appetite to adopt a more statistical approach, or any compelling reason why current processes are prevailing.

I think I’d you were to ask people at the club they would say they use data during the recruitment process. It’s clear character has been identified as the most important aspect in a player, well, trying to find players that may gel and with a very low potential to be hard to manage. Obviously this is important, but being good at football and having the potential to play at a level above I’d the most important thing.

Agreed, Gaz.  Surely the man-management aspect of getting the best out of the different characters in a squad is down to the Manager/Head Coach.

The seem to value being able to run really far over anything like creative output. Which is a surprise from somebody like Copps.

I feel quite sorry for Reo. Playing with one up front we've wasted a year of his career. I genuinely think he's got something to offer as a busy poacher playing off a target man but we don't set up like that so there was no point in signing him.

Unused sub again in the 1-1 away at Chesterfield.

Last played football on Boxing Day with a 17 min cameo away at Tranmere Rovers.

An unused sub............. but they only had 4 on the bench, and the other 3 were used....

What an appointment Younger was. Just concerns me that the back room team recruitment we have is as bad as our playing squad. I mean someone trusted Younger to recommend players. How can we be confident of the HoF and manager appointments when the same people make those calls

They had 5 loans in the squad already looking at reports on Twitter. They also only had 4 subs.

We won't be able to give him away in the summer.

Not sure if he fell victim to this again or is injured or just out of favour, but he didn’t make the Yeovil squad today in their 2-0 defeat at home to Southend. He’s so far managed two sub appearances of 26 and 36 mins during this loan period, with 0 goals.

What seemed at one point to be a promising prospect (in his spurs days) now seems like he will fade away from football and  end up playing part time while topping his wages up with a 9-5 job.

Speaks volumes, when we have players in our squad who can’t get a game in the National league.

It says everything about how utterly rank our recruitment has been for 2 years.

Unless we sort that, you could have the bas**rd love child  of Brian Clough and Alec Ferguson as manager and we'd still be rank.

I thought he had all the attributes to be a top player for us. Something is missing with him, desire, confidence or he just doesn’t enjoy his job?
