I was wondering, now we are sponsored by virgin trains, which are a massive company, does that mean we have a lot more money to spend on signings because of their investment? Or, does it not work like that?
-
I wouldn't expect much difference.
The cost of a Mars bar doesn't vary based on the means of the person buying it.
-
...actually I could well be mistaken, given that Virgin Trains will not have the details of what One Call paid, it could be possible.
I hadn't considered it thought.

It won't be fortunes more though will it.

They're a shirt sponsor so I doubt it'll be significantly more than One Call paid us. It isn't like them being a big company means they'll automatically give the club loads of money.
One thing though is that it's very good for our image as a respectable, professional club to have a big national/international brand visibly associated with us.

Just throwing this onto the tracks. Could season ticket holders etc get discount travel?

That would be most welcome. I put the thick end of £3k a year their way just on getting to work and back, not to mention all the football trips

They already have committed though, 25% discount for DRFC supporters. No doubt we'll have to see what that actually means but its a good start.

Silver members and above with DNA card.
25% is not to be sniffed at.
-
Sounds encouraging. I hope that 25% applies to season tickets of the rail variety!
-
We went to flamingo
Land last weekend and there was a kids footy team all in kit and they were also sponsored by Virgin trains.

Thanks for replies, like an idiot I was thinking it was extra money, didn't think of it as being instead of/replacing the one call income (as in same amount but from a different source)
-
looks like a good deal all round
-
Maybe it'd be beneficial to Virgin Trains to pump money into us - more money generally leads to better results which in turn leads to more exposure of us and their brand
-
More money to us = championship football = more away fans using their trains to get to us.
Or something like that!!

They could always use their subsidy from the government to do it!
