Yeah, it's good to see such depth in the squad now.
Starting 11 & bench looks great.

For those listening to the commentary, the ball clearly came off Taylor. What part of his body it came off, I wouldn't like to say, but lets just call it 'shoulder'.

Last goal I can find for us in the first minute was an own goal at Blackpool in 2016-17 - we went on to lose 2-4 :(

Couple of fumbles and missing crosses from Dieng have given them a couple of chances.

I would have Ennis on here. Need his workrate further up the pitch.

Not the best but got the lead. Another striker on for one of the central midfielders should do the trick

According to BBC, possession is 45%:55% to the visitors. That about right?

Yes but with plenty of passing around at the back by them as well.

At least Rochdale are trying to play football against us.

We look like we haven’t played together that much, and with the changes to the squad that is inevitable.

Although the last few games I have seen we have been better in the second half, once DM has the chance to see how the game is going and to tweak things for the second half..

Copps and Ennis on second half?

Good first five or ten minutes with some good thought, decision making and play.

After that we’ve given them way to much space and time and seem to have lost our accuracy and clear heads a bit.

A couple of good bits of play but we need to get into them a bit more.

Tom and Dieng doing their bit as usual.

Ramsey seems a bit out of his depth here and panicky. I guess he’s young and needs to find his feet here.

We have a lot of new blood in the squad and look to be playing a different shape than usual because of it so it’s not looking very joined up but I suppose that’s to be expected.

Still way to many shouts of ‘gerrit forward’ from the pensioners behind me in the South stand!

Substitution, Doncaster Rovers. Niall Ennis replaces Jon Taylor.

Substitution, Doncaster Rovers. Fejiri Okenabirhie replaces Devante Cole.

Ramsey and Gomes have largely been ineffective today, chasing shadows around small Rochdal technical players. Rochdale look like some Rovers teams of old, knocking it around fairly nicely but not had a shot on target.

Credit to Rochdale they  played well. Not sure we had the middle of the park right for this game. Sheaf did well and created when he came on. Onwards and upwards

Cole looked very lazy today, lack of movement from him and I wasn’t surprised when he was hooked.
Fejiri should start in place of him on Tuesday.
Whiteman poor again, Ramsey looked lost at times.
Ennis had a big impact when he replaced JT.
Title: Re: Rovers v Rochdale
Post by: IDM on February 08, 2020, 08:46:05 pm
I didn’t think Whiteman was that bad..

My concern before the game was we are putting in the new players and playing a new system, and returning players like James were uncharacteristically rusty.  We looked unsettled throughout the game and I have no complaints with the results..

That said, we were unlucky not to add a second with Sadlier hitting the post and not being able o get a firm strike on the one which was cleared off the line.

But we move on.
