Title: Wigan v Rovers
Post by: RoversAlias on October 03, 2020, 01:15:07 pm
It looks like a wet one today!

Rovers are at the DW Stadium to take on Wigan this afternoon, and we'll be watching along on iFollow.

Check out the ITEN Match Preview of the game here: https://www.intotheemptynet.com/post/league-one-match-preview-wigan-a2021 (https://www.intotheemptynet.com/post/league-one-match-preview-wigan-a2021)

What are we thinking for today's game then folks?

i've been thinking backing Rovers to win 3-1 every match might be a good idea

what are the rules about the oldham match

(a) does a non used sub count as played ??
or will will see a couple of 90th minute substitutes  just to say "they were on the pitch" and met any rules.

Rovers to win 2-0, does anybody know why Oxford v Crewe is postponed? Covid?
Title: Re: Wigan v Rovers
Post by: dknward2 on October 03, 2020, 02:51:29 pm
1 case of covid in the Crewe squad so postponed

Covid. One Crewe player positive. Crewe wated to play, Oxford didn't.

Why is it showing 'Wigan Athletic v Doncaster'

Surely, it should be 'Wigan v Doncaster', or 'Wigan Athletic v Doncaster Rovers' ?

Lovely interception by Richards, but his default placing the shot has to be much much better than that, or hitting it hard.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's even physically possible for defenders to tackle Copps in the box.

Up to the opposition box we've been excellent. Whiteman domination.  James and halliday really getting forward well.

Taylor should bury that chance though.

Taylor, Coppinger twice and John Jules it should be at least three. But all four chances should have been taken.

Big points lost if we don't win this. First half has looked like a Championship side against L2 in the Cup.

Whiteman has been the best I've ever seen him, as good as Brian Stock in his pomp.

Post by: Alan Southstand on October 03, 2020, 03:55:35 pm
I wonder what we’ve been doing in training! I can see this being 1-0 to Wigan, probably from a set piece! The chances we’ve had in that first half and the keeper has been tested maybe twice, both from Copps. Awful in the last third today, but another 45 mins to put that right.
Title: Re: Wigan v Rovers

A second half performance as good as the first and we'd have to win it.

Picking up on something said in commentary....when ball goes out for a throw in do they have to use a different ball?

Not a fan of Bursik at all, maybe we are used to a better standard of goalkeeper, but he has made errors that have lead to goals in every game he has played this season
Title: Re: Wigan v Rovers
Post by: RoversAlias on October 03, 2020, 04:20:39 pm
He seemed wrong footed.

Wright gave it away stupidly in his own box to present Wigan with the ball for it as well. Sloppy from Rovers.

Deserved defeat after that second half. Nobody looked to know what they were doing and we barely created anything. Gave a sloppy goal away and lost. Darren Moore won't be best pleased!

As good as we were first half we were equally as bad second half, Birsik is no where near the keeper Dieng is, poor kicking, and no idea on his positioning, and at least make an effort to save them
Title: Re: Wigan v Rovers
Post by: PDX_Rover on October 03, 2020, 05:05:02 pm
Well... talk about a game of two halves.

Never got going second half. At all. Sloppy in our own half. Bursik - I hope he takes some lessons from that because he was sloppy with his distribution. Wrong footed for the goal but that happens. He made saves when needed, which want much over the 90+.

Odd game. We should have been out of sight. But that’s football.

We move on. I’m sure DM will be all over that second half showing though.

Next!
