Football in Doncaster - Sunday morning/pub leagues...
« on December 09, 2012, 06:41:31 pm by LINCrover2 »
Does anyone play any football in Donny for pubs or anything like that?

I played for years when I was a teenager, would love to get back into it! I am not the best player in the world so not looking for any 'proper' set up, but I am told there is a Sunday league with 5/6 divisions, so thought I might give that a go.

Not sure how I would go about getting into one of the teams though, anyone involved with a side that needs players?!

A few options:

http://www.thefa.com/findaclub is an online resouce with all clubs affiliated. You can use the filters to select the type of club you are after.

The SHCFA have a noticeboard which clubs can use http://www.sheffieldfa.com/noticeboards/noticeboard

My advice when looking for a club is to select one which is Charter Standard. Different Charter Standard levels available: Adult, Club, Development & Community. Community is the highest level.

May I add my name to the list of please can I have a game. Was going to start a similar thread myself after Xmas but while this ones started. Moving back to the Doncaster area soon and would also like to get involved while being abit of a shit player, mainly to get active again.
I'm pretty sure the last club I played for was from responding to a thread on either this site or the old yaurs site and I had a couple of really enjoyable years. So like lincrover2 says any teams willing to let us train then leave some details.

Cheers

If you can get a few of you together, we will attempt to form another team at Bessacarr FC for you. Obviously need a few more than two of you!

I said I wasn't the best player in the world, never volunteered to be a bench warmer!

I'll chuck my name in the hat, I'm the wrong side of 30 but I'm fitter than I ever have been.

Age is largely irrelevant I think at that standard!

I am told a lot of pace goes out of the game, defence plays deeper etc. I am only 21, but pace has never been a strong point of mine for as long as I can remember! Reckon I will be a better player in an adults team than I was in a kids team, from what I have seen of pub leagues!
