Thats all Dean Saunders had at Wrexham before the giant step from Conference to Championship level.

Who was the last manager to make such a  massive jump ?

I can't believe anybody can possibly blame Shearer for Newcastle's relegation. He had 8 games for crying out loud.

Saunders inexperience is the only reason I was sceptical about his appointment. It's one of the reasons why truly judging him on his merits is very tough to do at this stage of his career.

Many managers in recent history have made a HUGE jump. Some with lesser experience. Ok the jump the current Chelsea manager made, on the face of it is not so large.....But then again !!!.

Managers have to start somewhere.

I remember before the world cup, the BBC asked Shearer to pick his England squad. He picked 7 midfielders in total along with 5 strikers. And then said he would play 4-5-1.

And some people actually suggested he take over from Capello
