Typical Alfie that, every side needs its infectious characters, it was just so criminal that we lost him in the way we did.

Alfie May running out of the tunnel to celebrate a win for Charlton, slips and falls on his arse.

Quite ironic that the two top scorers in League 1 are players we released and deemed not good enough. Guess it's the way it goes sometimes.

Wikipedia says he's scored 20 in 35 games for Charlton. Good going that.

Nice video BB.

He’s a smashing lad living the dream & long may (no pun intended) it last.

Alfie. It’s, DON…CAS…TER not DON…CARS…TER!

How soon they ‘forget’!

24 in 42 all comps this season. Charlton not amazing either so this is a good return.

I’ve always thought that goals per game/appearances as misleading because a player could be an injury time sub or play 90 mins it counts the same. It should really be goals per minutes

They're on about a song sung by Cilla Black, called "Alfie", mate, which includes the words "What's it all about, Alfie". It is just an example of harmless fun that often goes over the heads of people born later, many of whom will not understand its meaning.

It is not intended to offend anyone.

This must be bait for me. I’ve said it countless times before that it was very obvious that Alfie was growing in confidence and improving at every game (when given the chance). One person to blame for Alfie’s departure, his current and past capabilities are there for all to see.

Looks an absolute tool

Also in a team that's 15th in the league.

Credit where credit is due for his endeavours however he was only ever going to be a run of the mill mid table league one striker.

"What's it all about, Alfie?".

Another song from the genius of Burt Bacharach.

Born in the South, moulded in the North.

Well done Alfie.

Truly ‘gifted’. Truly living the dream.

Alfie promoted as a great. Moore relegated as a failure, great foresight Darren.

i was going to do a joke thread about Charlton needing to sign a proper striker having drawn 20 out of 46 league matches  :chair:  anyone looking at the league table would think that

He certainly is a Lazarus striker   -  coming late from non league - as he continues to improve

Do we think McCann would like to bring him 'home' over 100 miles away from his roots?

McCann chose to start him 8 times in 2018/19, when he was fit and available all season.

Chuffed to bits for the lad. He went on to better things as some players do.

It was all about May's potential. McCann liked him and didn't want to sell him, Darren Moore did. May would have played a big part at Rovers, especially after Marquis left. Darren Moore more or less gave him away.

Massive, MASSIVE mistake.

I can agree that it was a mistake by Moore, but he did May a favour, he would have stagnated here under his management, and at the time was not the player he has become, would  have played second fiddle to loan players he brought in who he favoured over other prospects at the club who he sacked off as well, one costing  a million pounds only months after being given his cards.
He would not have been the player he has become if he had stayed here, the day he left was the luckiest day of his life.

one can only wonder what would have happened if May and the other one had been "coloured" or "bible friendly" (has a certain Chesterfield player sobered up yet)

if we make promotion we will have an awful lot of players to loan out
