Its like 2004 all over again

Is it just me that feels like this?  I was suprememly confident after Mansfield away we would win thetitle, and I feel the same way again now.

Its like back to the future, but without a DeLorean.

Yep.  The old one is looking a little shabby.

I'll admit its been slower for me this season. We talk about the Mansfield game without realising that was in February whereas this season its been the last two wins that have finally got my heart rate returned to normal. Without taking it off on a tangent I think its because we've had a few more wobbles this season than 03/04, which, lets face it, was an incredible season in terms of consistently spanking teams.

I've thought that a bit as well Rob. Many people expecting us to struggle before the season started.

I think we were more dominant and winning games better and by bigger margins in 2003-4, but we have been good with late goals in both seasons. If it turns out with the same end result then I will agree with you!

A few figures we can compare?

Cotterill - McIndoe
Jones - Albrighton
Furman - Doolan & Ravenhill combined?
Syers - Green
Hume - Blundell
Paynter - LFW

And of course ............... Brown - Brown  ;)

I was still uncertain up to that game with Swindon, that one cracked it, after that it is whether or not we take the title. Carlisle and Notts County will fix that!

Stevenage was this season's 'Mansfield'.

Maybe we'll be there bar the shouting on Saturday

Spurr - Timmy Ryan

and would have said more Jones - Foster but that's more my opinion.

People talk about the Mansfield moment but I really feel that Kyle Bennett's winner at Shrewsbury was the turning point. We went top and thus far have never looked back, forgetting our blip (which came after the Stevenage game) and kicking on.

It does draw parallels to 2004 for me too.

Magic moments .. what an atmosphere or Away fans always create. If only we could get them all together for even just one home game it would transform Keepmoat forever.

If History is repeating then Rob does that mean in the next 3 years we will beat Leeds at Wembley in a Prem play-off final with a League cup trophy sandwiched between?

Still think the Bournemouth win was our Mansfield moment. What a win that was.

The pace of that Mansfield game. Very high tempo. Brilliant. What a day that was.

Watch it again in YouTube,  Mark. I think Philsky has put it up on there. I remembered it being a festival of high quality cavalier football.  Sadly,  it was really a hoof ball war and not much resembling the beautiful game was on show.

Yeah did watch it Rob. The pace is crazy. Agree about the quality but the chasing down, tackles flying in... Gung ho. Brilliant. And let's not forget that was a league lower.

Arguably this season is a better achievement, given the debacle last season, the low expectations, the new players and losing the manager half way through the season. Madness!
