...still think Jones was shit?

Jesus wept but Dickov has left us utterly bereft of Mesters. Look at that squad today. Who would you look to to set a standard and demand a level of performance. To inspire through leadership.

Absolutely f**king no-one...

He told us at the start of the season that he could guarantee one thing and that was he would sign 'men'. What a spinster.

Dickov has truly left a terrible mess.

Id snap 20th off at the end of the season, we are in big trouble.

The main problem is the defense is so so slow and soon as decent fast forwards come up against them there buggered,or if they get a set piece lol

When everyone was shouting for Dickov's head how many were saying that he had a good enough squad to work with?
Any of the posters on here?

Wonder if DF has had chance to look at the young squad players yet -the two McKays, Billy Whitehouse ,Liam Mandeville, Harry Middleton -any of these any better now than our so called first teamers ?
Usual cry from management "not ready yet "-when will they ever be "ready

Not sure what your point is but remember Dickov assembled this squad.

The two Mckays have both picked up injuries at Ilkeston. Paul might have been close to getting a call-up as a defensive midfielder.

Reserves play next week, so maybe a chance for one or two to shine.

Lifelong your spot on, most of the people said the squad was good enough but it's way short of skill pace and anything else u want to add to it

Hands up- I thought when Dickov went that results would improve. Actually the Interregnum under Jones proved to me that the problems were deep-seated and we needed a new broom.

Keeping a clean sheet occasionally would help as well.

Thats not going to happen with our current back four .

He has built a defence that was supposed to be similar to the one we had when we got promoted, two big dominant in the air centre halves in Butler and MacKenzie.
The trouble is Butler dominates hardly anybody in the air, and MacKenzie that is all he has, he gets caught out position regular.
Dickov built a defence for a past season, but every year whats needed moves on, i thought he recruited mostly well, but in defence no he hasn't.

Most of the squad is good enough, it just needs managing properly.

Where we fall short is in defence, obviously.

Will be interesting to see how hard we are to beat when Keegan is back in the side.

Only positive yesterday was Tyson IMHO.

At least DF has time to work with the squad before the next window opens and time to save the season after that.

Too early to worry about the R word - let's see where we are come January.

Agree with that, IDM.

The "managing properly" bit is important. To me that is not imposing a system that this group cannot perform. That includes a high line.

DF has to show that he can put his preferred system on hold until he has the personnel to implement it. He needs to decide how to use this group to best effect, because of their weaknesses not in spite of them.

In the Summer we needed a defender with pace and we got McKenzie, we needed a right back and McCullough got shoved there, we needed a creative midfielder and got Gobern. If you don't think Dickov was an issue then you're a simpleton. He was given over 2 years to bring in players he was happy with and 90% of the time the end product was terrible to watch and didn't work. The times it did work it was negative football and I believe us Doncaster Rovers fans wouldn't appreciate that kind of game. Ferguson in time will hopefully address the issues with our squad and it should hopefully be a lot more entertaining football-wise.

Right, first off yesterday was a disgrace, I can't remember a worse performance in many years, that includes Barnsley away 1-4, though I wasn't at the MK debacle.
Now I will say the defence was garbage, but is it not the same defence that was grinding out 0-0 draws at the start of the season.
0-0's v Wigan, Bury should've been, Burton, Southend, 1-1's v Leeds & Ipswich in 90 mins.
We are too easy to get past from the front, Williams was putting defenders under intense pressure early on in the season but he's either knackered or can't be arsed anymore, the midfield has barely got a tackle in it, leaving the defence very exposed.
Even BFG is starting to look a bit shell-shocked.
The confidence and belief seems to have gone, the players we have, especially going forward should frighten the rest of league but we are in danger of being involved in a right old struggle till May unless things change.
One or two new faces to liven the rest up and bring a bit more positivity needed I think.
