Mansfield's Penalty Claim

Butler needlessly pushed their player and it could quite easily have been given.

Nah, just leaned into him and eased him out, but if it had been the other way round I'd have wanted a pen as well

Thought it was at the time but looking at the replay no. Good decision by the ref.

At first look from my seat I thought we got lucky.

But after watching replays and from the other angle looks perfectly timed challenge

One of those that could have gone either way. The angle from behind the net is revealing. He was about to kick it and Butler muscled him out. Then he fell over.

Butler gives him a 2 handed push just as he strikes the ball , could easily have been given.

Looked at this a few times and the camera angle from behind the goal clearly shows AB shouldered into the guy and over he went.AB's hands do follow through and make contact with the guy but pure and simple AB muscled the striker out quite legitimately. Ref was spot on NO penalty. However with some of the referees we have had lately a lot would have given it - inconsistencies and interpretation are the problem - this time this ref got it right. Of course Mansfield would claim it was a penalty as we would have but in this instance not to be. :rtid:

No pen for me, good strength, but seem then given. Worth noting the ref would have also had a view from the other side...

Got away with one there. Shoulder is fine, but the two armed shove isn't.

As I said on Saturday on here, never a pen in a million years.
Butler was just too strong for the Mansfield player, a good shoulder to shoulder defensive challenge.

Poor decision. Definite foul. The Mansfield number 8 ran into Butler and kicked out. Definitely should have been a free-kick to Rovers.

Never a foul but how many have we seen given by the incompetent refs we've had over the years. Well done ref, good decision!

A foul all day long for me, but not complaining, we've had some shocking decisions go against us, so this one is payback in part for those

I said penalty on the day. Can't see anything to change my mind. We were lucky to get off with it.

The new laws though talk about 'sustained use' of the hand in penalty situations. That's why players can get away with shirt holding and other such infringements in the penalty area.
